everybody knows that the BCS is an elaborate charade that means absolutely nothing except determining the size of the check conferences split amongst themselves right? It is a series of meaningless bowls just like the rest of them that serves to provide a framework for matching up teams for meaningless exhibitions. It is sham foisted upon an ignorant nation just like American Idol and the wall between the U.S. and Mexico. Bitching about the BCS is like bitching about that actions of fictional characters in movies. It is pointless wankery, unlike wankery that has point, and that kind of wankery almost always includes porn.

Well, until we have a playoff it's the next best thing. I remember years when OU was ranked #2 and would have to play another team ranked #3 while the #1 ranked team had to play someone who was ranked #17. WTF was that S all about?

An 8 team playoff is of interest but, damn, I bet the first year they have a playoff, you will get the SEC Championship game winner in the finals against the SEC Champ game loser. Playing three games against one another in football would make for a crappy final game of the year.

They could adjust it so that this would not happen. I do agree that it should be restricted to the top 8.

of course it is. it should be like European soccer teams. only certain conferences can put up teams into it. if one conference starts to be destroyed year in, year out, replace them with a conference that is worthy of the challenge.

meh, it makes more sense in my head.

I think OU should sue the NCAA and get with other big schools to form an association of college football.:D
And the NCAA would get their panties in their cracks again and whap us with probation.

The only way to ever have a playoff is to do away with non-conference games or maybe just have one or two per season.
8 or 9 game season with a potential of 3 to 4 playoff games. Most teams only have one good non-conference game per year anyways.

They would have to have the playoffs with a home field advantage like the nfl. Fans aren't going to travel several weeks in a row. Some will, but not enough to justify it...

they were talking about a 6+2 playoff and how it would be great. by "6+2" they mean the 6 conference champions + 2 at large. my question is this: WHY THE HELL DO WE NEED THE 6 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS?????

why can't we just have to top 8 in the bcs poll play a stinking playoff? case in point, you might have a "worse than 8th ranked" ACC team in this mythical playoff. do they deserve to be considered??? how about if nebraska wins the big12 this year? are you telling me they're better than texas, or us, or auburn, or florida, or usc????? PUH-LEEEEESE!!!!

get a clue "college football powers that be" - don't complicate this whole thing. it's too easy. top 8 teams at the end of the year. PERIOD.

nothing wrong with that. in fact, it's an excellent idea. maybe you could share it with the NCAA - only to have them do something really stupid... like have the worse seed get the home game.;)

Also, to answer or reply to the first post, were there people really bitching on here about the bcs?? We can only hope to sneak into a bcs bowl, it has more to do with being screwed in eugene than the bcs "system". Although the voters seem to suck somewhat.
