For what it's worth, Jeff Sagarin doesn't like his own BCS rating system. He much prefers the predictor number as more statistically valid.

well, we dropped 4 spots in the predictor this week after a win
i assume because oregon lost big to arizona and we "lost" to oregon

and we played a team witha losing record so our sos goes down

Why in the hell is Auburn still ahead of us. They just struggled against Alabama. And don't give me rivalry game bs either.

I don't think there's a sane person in the country that could argue our losses were "worse" than Auburn's.

At least Coaches poll has us top 14 which is where we need to be!

Didn't LSU just go to overtime with a 3-8 Mississippi team? What am I missing here?

noobalicious
11/19/2006, 01:08 PM
That is also ridiculous. LSU. What a joke. Mississippi should have won too. They were up 20-7 in the 4th quarter. Didn't LSU not just get #8 but didn't they move up too? Unbelievable.

Also a joke...a michigan team who lost to easily the best team in college football ranked behind a usc team who lost to oregon state. Nothing against Oregon st. but they definately aren't Ohio St.

It's gonna be real close. But an LSU loss to Arkansas and a big win by us @ OSU should do the trick.

not if USC beats the domers.

basically....and we couldn't begin to stress how ****ed the Rose Bowl would be that both winners of their automatic spots would be playing in Arizona the week after the Rose Bowl, and they would both have to settle for the second place teams. Not as amusing as say, if Michigan and Ohio State met for the title, forcing the Rose Bowl to take the 3rd place Big-10 team :D

I think they can't, but no more than 2 from the same conference have ever been in the top 14.

And that means the rose will have to take Cal and Michigan.

And I understand Stoops doesn't want to run up the score, but unfortunately you have to nowadays to impress voters. A couple extra touchdowns in the 4th quarter against Baylor would have been easy and would have been more impressive.

franklinjake

It is a sad realuty, because the voters look at the score, most didnt watch our game. When you look just at the final score, it is nothing mind blowing. So it doesnt raise the voters eye browes. Just my opinion.

probably because all of those teams have a 1 after the dash in their record, whereas we have a 2* after the dash in our record. Rutgers took a huge hit with their loss. The computers are going to like them more because both WVa and Louisville are ranked a hell of a lot higher than say, A&M and Missouri.

Heh, then after a MEDIOCRE season, Purdue would've been in the Big 10 #2 spot, even though were #5, and we'd be in The C1 Bowl:D ;) ;) :P

Well like it or not, we have to look at a few facts as to why the computers are hurting us.

1. Big-12 did a terrible job in OOC against the other BCS conferences.
2. Big-12 is doing a terrible job of convincing anyone that the teams in the conference sans Texas and Oklahoma are deserving of any consideration.
3. Both Oregon and Washington being mediocre since about halfway through the season is killing us with the computers.

Their schedule is beyond a joke. At some point, they're going to have to stop paying for a spot in the BCS. Since their cut got reduced, it doesn't make much sense to spend $4-5 Mill to get the payout.
