You guys remember back in 2003 when we last the Big XII CCG? All the talking heads, and even Petey Boy said that if a team couldn't manage to win it's conference then it had no right playing in the BCS Championship Game. Think that attitude might be reversed this year? I e-mailed the espn ****** rockets to ask them that, doubt I'll get a response but hey, just wanted to remind them of what they said three years ago.

I hope they don't schedule a rematch for the BCS title. If Michigan wins, everyone would want a rubber match. If OSU wins, they have only proven they can beat Michigan. Even though OU's not involved in the situation, I hope we can get a fresh matchup. Making OSU beat Michigan twice is almost unfair.

That being said, I think this year is just another step towards a playoff.

Another point to keep in mind... OSU won't play for over 50 days.

Imagine if the NFL started its playoffs 50 days after the end of the regular season.

Yet another reason to have a playoff.

or at least a reason to put pressure on 10 and 11 team conferences to join the 21st century. ;)

They may not have won their conference, but they were undefeated, played the #1 team in the country on the road. They also lost by a considerable amount less than we did in 2003.

We shouldn't have played for it either back then IMO.

Not that I didn't hope we'd win.

But that wasn't their argument in 2003. We were undefeated until the CCG too. Basically that was the Big Televen's CCG, Michigan lost it, so by their logic, they shouldn't even be in the running anymore.

I see where you are going, but there was a little more to their "theory" back then, and that was that we got blown out by an unranked team. They pimped us as the best team ever, and we made them look foolish.

Also, if we would have lost that game by 3, there wouldn't have been the size of outrage about winning your conference.

Teams from the same conference should not play for the national championship. All these football commentators say these are without a doubt the best two teams. How do you know how they would match up with the best SEC, ACC, or Pac 10 team?

The OSU - Michigan game last night was the National Title game. Sorry folks, it's done, it's over, tOSU are the MNCs. Jan 8 will be the Anti-Climatic NC Bowl. If there is a rematch, people will bitch of course, and if Michigan wins there will be an asterisk. If tOSU wins again, what was the point.

I think the writers and coaches will skew their ballots to insure Michigan does not get a rematch. Then we will see Fox presents the 2006 Anti-Climatic NC Bowl. Sucky coverage of a sucky game, comin' at ya Jan 8 2007. Woowee.

I can't stand the Big 10. SEC champ or suc should play theosu. Michigan hasn't beat anyone but Noter Dane (they ain't all that) all year. They had their chance yesterday.

You do realize the writers and coaches poll no longer factors in the selection process, right?

What is the number 1 component of the BCS formula?

Grapevine-the Harris Poll (which is comprised of media members) and the ESPN Poll (which is comprised of coaches) make up 2/3 of the BCS formula.

I think you meant that the AP doesn't factor any longer.

According to the BCS website, the coaches poll is still part of the formula
