SETTING THE STAGE: Oklahoma shutout Michigan State last night by a score of 3-0…Tonight’s game is the second of two games between the teams this weekend…The Sooners have now won their last 17 games dating back to last season.
OKLAHOMA NOTES: Sooners forwards Doug Gebbie, Jordan Novak and Kevin Kennedy scored goals for OU last night…Forward Kyle Allan had two assists on the evening…Oklahoma goaltender Aaron Schmeilski stopped all 22 shots from Michigan State last night to earn his second shutout of the season…Last night’s game was the first game this season in which Oklahoma did not score on the power play as the Sooners went 0 for 7 with the man advantage…It’s a good sign when the Sooners score the first goal of the game as they have a 66-8-2 all-time record when scoring first…Oklahoma is 38-12-1 all-time in games played on Fridays and 25-7-0 in Saturday games at home.
MICHIGAN STATE NOTES: Goaltender Justin Sand played well for MSU last night, stopping 29 of 32 OU shots…The Spartans were 0 for 8 on the power play, including a two minute 5-on-3 situation to start the third period…Including last night’s game, Michigan State has now played three games against ACHA D1 opponents, losing to Eastern Michigan 5-4, to Western Michigan 5-2 and now to OU 3-0…MSU’s leading scorer, freshman forward Ryan Hernandez, did not make the trip to Oklahoma this weekend.
