Thats not saying much.

The ONLY ones I can stand to watch are the ones with Sean Connery and Timothy Dalton. The rest I could care less for, as they suck.

Well, I generally don't give a crap about movie reviewers, but I have used this site before and for the most part they have been spot on.

I tried to watch moonraker and octa***** when it was on TV once.

I just couldn't do it.

Although the Jaws dude was pretty funny.

Actually, I don't think they've made this one before. The one that's listed is a parody, I think.

moonraker is terrible. ridiculous.

i might go see Casino Royale on a freebee i've got from the local place....and not expect too much. just like every new "best new Bond" is the "Game of the Century"....or "ESPN Classic".

the old Casino Royale (1967) was a spy spoof starring David Niven, Peter Sellers, etc. It was not a James Bond movie. This is not a remake.

In this one Bond is supposed to be darker and closer to Fleming's
character in his books. It actually might get me out to see it
in the theater, which doesn't happen with 007. Now if they
chunked the PG-13 and went to R with real T & A...

i watched the trailer last night when I went to see Saw 3 finally.....Looks better than most of the ones I ve seen lately....

Sean Connery and Roger Moore will always be the bond pimps to me

I think he drives an Astin in this one. The only proper car for James to drive.

I'm not too wild about the 007 movies. I mean, I'll watch it if there's nothing else on, but I've never been a huge fan.

Although, I am curious why he prefers shaken martinis. They're supposed to 'splain that one.

but based on the same loose idea?ok, the deal is that Casino Royale (Fleming's first Bond novel) was the only one not sold to Eon Productions (the people who do the Bond movies). The people who bought Casino Royale wanted to make it into a straight movie, but Connery's Bond was so successful, they decided the only way they'd make money (competing against You Only Live Twice) is if they did a parody. (As it turns out, Casino Royale was the third highest grossing film that year, after You Only Live Twice and The Jungle Book.)

I think they ended up using VERY little of the actual book to make that film. Anyway, Eon Productions finally got rights to the book and this means they now own all of Fleming's Bond novels.

Here is my take....

The action scenes were amazing, but not over the top unrealistic. This new Bond guy is reallllly good (I was iffy about him at first) He is not the panzy Bond that we have became used to seeing. This guy actually gets dirty and beats the crap out of people. This is also the most violent Bond movie without doubt. I am not going to give any spoilers, but this Bond movie is worth seeing.
The only thing I did not like is the poker scene because they dragged it out too long, but there is a few thing to break up the scene.

Rating - 8.5
James Bond himself - 9.5

In.

Daniel Craig was great in "Layer Cake".

If you haven't seen that one...you should IMO.

Just back back from seeing it. I liked it a ton. It's definitely the best bond movie I've seen in a long time. There is more story and plot twist in this one than normal and less gadgets and blowing stuff up (although there is plenty of that too). anyway, go see it.

I think you will like this movie. NormanPride and I saw it Friday night.

If you like ESPN's poker crap, you will like this movie. If you like huge explosions, you will like this movie. If you are a Bond fan, you will like this movie. If you like plot twists that keep you guessing until the very end, you will like this movie.

If you hate cliffhangers, close your eyes at the very end :D

No "Q" in the film....

No "over the top" gadgetry (For the most part).

No "having sex with anything female that moves" Bond.

Even with all that....

Best Bond in quite some time.

Yeah, Q was one of my favorite parts in the Bond movies, and I didn't miss him in this one. That's how much I liked it.

I just saw it last night. It was a better than I expected, and I expected it to be good. Sometimes, different IS better. To be repetitive of other posters:
If you like the cheesy self-conscious formula flicks that Bond movies have been for about the last 30 years, this is not for you. Forget the smirky and semi-gay Roger Moore / Pierce Brosnan cartoon Bonds This 007 is a bada$$ who gets blood on stuff. It also had a real "spy movie" type plot, not just "Bond sneaks into the superhideout of the outlandish evil-genius-multibillionaire-megalomaniac Dr Demonbrain and blows it up at the end of the film."
I hope they are already making the next one.

saw it Saturday.

great flick. I'm old school Bond myself but Craig kicks major league ***.
he's kind of a mysterious type. and the craziest thing about this Bond flick was you actually felt the dark side, you weren't quite sure if the hero was going to live or not.

highly recommend it.

oh yeah, and the chubby black dude in the poker game was the kid in Juice.

and of course the CIA guy was Basquiat.

Throughout history, there has only been one James Bond, IMO. Sean Connery. Everything else has sucked ***. Until now. Casino Royale was a really solid flick, and Craig is an inspired choice. The movie is a little too long and drags in places, but gets away from all of the Moonraker-type bull****, and from actors like Brosnan, who I loved in the Remington Steele television series but despised as Bond.

It's definitely worth checking out.

And thanks PG for saving me from having to explain the David Niven spoof.

i saw CR. i thought it was pretty good. i did get to see it on one the super-massive old timey Return of the Jedi premier type screens.....before that theatre sadly shut down just last week. that was pretty sweet. theatre seated over 600. of course, i've never been there in 10 years where there was more than maybe 50-75 people at a matinee....and usually more like 20.

I wasn't totally sold on the Bond girl. she was nice and had nice jumblies but a bit too bony and expressionless for me.
I guess the married chick he got on made the grade.;)
