SETTING THE STAGE: Oklahoma and Michigan State meet for the first of two games this weekend…This is the first time that the two teams have played each other…Oklahoma is ranked 3rd in the ACHA D1 Coaches Rankings…Michigan State is ranked 3rd in the ACHA D2 Central Region rankings.

OKLAHOMA NOTES: Sooners forward Adrian Borchgrevink continues to lead the Sooners in goals with 14 and total points with 25…OU forward Doug Gebbie is second on the team in goals with 11…Gebbie (11-10-21) and forward Owen Brewer (6-15-21) are second on the team in terms of points…Oklahoma goaltender Aaron Schmeilski has a record of 7-0-0 with a 1.83 GAA and a .944 save percentage…Dating back to March 3rd of this year, the Sooners have now won their last 16 games…The Oklahoma power play this season has scored 51 goals in 178 chances for a 28.65% success rate…The Sooners penalty kill is equally as impressive, allowing only 9 goals in 140 opportunities for a 93.57% kill rate…Oklahoma is 36-12-3 all-time in games played on Fridays and 24-6-1 in Friday games played in the friendly confines of the Blazers Ice Centre.

MICHIGAN STATE NOTES: The Spartans won the ACHA D2 National Championship in 2005…MSU’s last game was a 22-1 rout of the University of Washington’s D2 squad last Friday in East Lansing… Head Coach James Martin describes his team’s style of play: “We’ve been trying to play conservatively defensively but we’ve leaned towards a more offensive style,” he said. “We have a lot of fast forwards. We can really stretch out the other teams’ defense.”…MSU is 5-2 at home this season and 1-2 on the road...MSU is led in scoring by freshman forward Ryan Hernandez who has five goals and seventeen assists for a total of 22 points…Hernandez is followed by junior defenseman John Perkovich (9-12-21), senior forward Jason Keene (8-9-17), sophomore forward Scott Anderson (12-3-15) and senior forward Mike Mistretta (8-7-15)…Sophomore goaltender Justin Sand has a 3.50 goals against average in 6 games.
