I like the guy as an athlete, but thank you, Coach Stoops. Seems like Larry B. always runs his mouth before something bad happens (2005 OB, 2005 TCU, 2006 Oregon, 2006 Texass). Maybe we can get him nice and classy before we send him NFL'in... :D

I couldn't find a story confirming this. Is this true? Where did you hear this?

Yeah, it's true...think it was in the DO earlier this week.

Because of

Alexander, who said last year he didn't think Henderson got in, was mum on the topic Tuesday. But OU defensive end Larry Birdine, who watched the game at home due to injury, was more than happy to give his from-the-couch accounts.

"I was watching from the house, and I had front-row seats," Birdine said. "Definitely, we got screwed. Everybody knows we got screwed."

http://www.newsok.com/article/keyword/2968212/

He was then asked why he didn't go to the game. Birdine answered, "Have you ever been to Lubbock?"

Nothing everyone wasn't thinking...but every other player and coach resisted being drawn into that conversation and providing bulletin board material.

Wouldn't be surprised if the team was told to just take the high road (especially after the media bonzanza that was Oregon) and LB didn't do so.

Either way...even if the comment wasn't that bad, it just seemed to be the proverbial straw.

The comments were pretty bad... Not like I'm gonna eat his kids bad, but definitely not something that should be said at all...

Which comments of Larry's do you feel were all that bad?

I have to put this post in the category of false since there is no link to any article saying that Birdine is suspended. I've looks on Scouts.com and soonersports.com and no article referencing it.

How about the "pending" category? It gives us more time to have fun...

Speaking the truth <> bad

If truth = opinion then fine... I just don't think, as a player, he should be making those comments about an officiating performance, especially without any tact. And I'm not sure if his opinion of Lubbock is really something that needs to be stated to the media... Just my opinion, obviously, but I thought he was pretty far out of line, and apparently Stoops did as well.

Truth <> opinion.

Are you blind, or do you wear your orange tainted glasses all day, every day? How many video angles do you need to see that A) The "catch" on 4th down was not a 1st down, B) Henderson was down before he stretched the ball across the goal line?

And you've obviously never been to Lubbock if you think that comment was purely opinion.

I wouldn't want any player on my team who needed to use the words of an opponent to get up for a game. It's rubbish to think it matter one bit to these guys.

It was in the Tulsa World the other day in the same blurb with the AP voter thing.

Birdine zipped: Fans have heard the last of outspoken senior defensive end Larry Birdine. Media who requested to interview him after practice Tuesday were told he was no longer allowed to speak to the press because of his comments last week pertaining to the Sooners;' 2005 loss at Texas Tech, about which Birdine said, "we got screwed."

Still not anything about actually getting suspended a game. Also, Baylors QB probably didn't think much about the rumors when he was running for his life from him this afternoon. :D

The commentators on Fox mentioned that Birdine was excused from the media.
