sloppy game, but Clark just made a nice dish to Crocker who jammed it home, then at the other end, Crocker steals a pass and takes it back for another slam

i wish i could help you lubbock, but the two i've used for years don't appear to be carrying Sooner hoops or work.

it's certainly the case we don't foul nearly as much with Capel than KS--where we put people in teh double bonus with 7 minutes left in each half since we are guarding people 30 feet from the basket. time will tell if that's to our benefit in the long run.

With a young team, it probably is. With young, athletic players, I'd rather we be crisp on the offensive end than the defensive. Most young, athletic players make their defensive plays on athleticism anyway. I think that we're gonna need a solid, well-run offense out of this team, and, if that means don't half-court-press on D, so be it.

29-12 Half.

D looks very good. We're not shooting the ball great, but LL and Crocker are doing some nice things on the offensive side.

That's right folks. Longar Longar is ballin'.

okay, i have been paying for the ozone for a couple years now and that is the first time i have watched a game on it.. i am impressed.
the team looks a little sloppy at times but i think its due to youth..

so, what is it about this year? Why am I more excited about the team this year than last year? Why do we graduate our top 3 players and the team is more exciting now? Something is missing... what is missing?

badger

they sort of have to put forth effort. I mean... no ranking... no nat'l television cameras... who's going to hype them if they don't hype themselves?

I think Capel is used to working with non-blue chip talent, so that makes him perfect for OU.

Imagine where he'll be next year with top recruits staying around and not transferring to whorndom.

No joke. I never thought I'd see LL do some of the things he did tonight. I am so friggin' impressed.

Thoughts from section N5, Row L, Seat 2:

--If that is an accurate example of how much Longar has improved in the off-season, then this year could be MUCH better than expected. I'd still like to see him do it against real competition, but dang if he doesn't look like a real post threat right now.

--I think pretty much everyone in attendence, from me to the band, to the other fans, to the players, wanted that game to end about 10 seconds after it started. Leaving for Hawaii early the next day, playing Liberty.......not exactly the perfect combo for a rowdy evening at LN. Having said that, I did think the team still managed a solid effort, even if the energy level wasn't quite where it was last Friday. They kept up the defensive pressure and never allowed Liberty to breathe.

--Crocker is super-impressive. I love the slashing and playmaking. Plus, he can hit the mid-range jumper. Just might be a gem of a recruit. Clark is talented, but raw, I think his contributions this year will come in waves w/ periods of emptiness.

--I think it's important this team establishes a true "go-to" scorer. I'm all for a balanced line-up, but I do think this team needs to know who gets the ball when the break isn't there and we really need a basket. I think Crocker may wind up being that guy.

--Not too much to analyze that we didn't see last Friday. Gonna have to wait until Hawaii to find out much more.

A Few Things I Observed That I Probably Shouldn't Have:

1. It never ceases to amaze me how many people go nuts for "free" items they wouldn't even consider paying $2.00 for.
2. Gotta love seeing the 7 year old girl in front of me, shaking her stuff to "Miss New Booty"-- where has the innocence gone? :)
3. In pre-game, Maze was yucking it up with the fans and DANCING around on his crutches. C'mon now, kid. Think.
4. You know what else never ceases to amaze me? How excited people get to dance around to a song that is essentially promoting a homosexual orgy (YMCA).
5. Liberty might as well change their name to the Washington Generals.

The three times I've seen them lace em up I've been impressed. I also think this team has a chance to be better than expected. We'll know more next week, but it's nice to see a team look like its playing pretty loose, and allowed to make a mistake here and there without being berated.

I still think they can get to 17-18 wins, which will be a major success. I think Kaypro guy has a chance to build this into a solid, player friendly, fun basketball program again.

OUSKINS - nice and accurate analysis. We'll learn alot this next week. It'll be good to see Mike Neal in the mix. I just hope we can be competitive in all 3 games.

1. 100% agree-the announcer for those things (as mentioned above) sucks. Also, I love how everything completely dies when they run out of t-shirts.
4. Yeah, and I liked how they played it as Liberty (Falwell's school) took the court for the second half. Ranked pretty high on the unintentional comedy scale.
