Does anyone know of a good place to eat for Thanksgiving in this part of the metroplex? Gaylord Hotel costs $85, no thank you.

Thanks! I don't want my sister in law to reserve a place for us at Hometown Buffet or some crap. Since they are new to the area, I wanted her to know better options.

Woudn't it be cheaper to cater or buy all the stuff pre-made and have it at a home?

The old place was kinda cool in an old gas station driver over the hose in the gravel driveway and make the bell ring kinda way - but the new one is good to go. You no longer have to worry about getting stuck on NW Highway when trying to turn in on a crowded night.

Where is this new Chickem Express you speak of. I only get to Grapvevine when I visit my parents and Chicken Express is a player sometimes. Did it move from NW highway?

The Salvation Army always puts on a decent spread at a local convention center or church. And it's free.

And I couldn't even imagine eating "thanksgiving dinner" anywhere but in somebody's home.

It's further down NW highway. I want to say it's opposite from where Weinerschnitzel used to be (which is now a bicycle shop).

The best Thanksgiving dinner I ever had was at the Station Casino in Kansas City.

If you're talking about eating turkey and fixins then OK. If you're talking about Thanksgiving Dinner, then this is wrong in so many ways. Even in the military, we'd all go to the mess hall together and eat our Thanksgiving Dinner.

The best Thanksgiving Dinner I've ever had included fried squirrel, smoked wild turkey, and elk roast. Potatoes, green beans, squash, pickled beets and okra straight from the garden. Home made from scratch rolls and pies. The only thing store bought was the butter, salt, pepper, sugar, and yeast/flour for the breads/pies and gravy.

We've had a similar dinner for the past couple years. We always go around the table and tell what we're thankful for. I simply couldn't imagine going out to a restaurant on Thanksgiving Day.

Actually, on Thanksgiving morning the men go hunting. We each carry a deer rifle and a .22 for squirrels. Since those little varmints are so plentiful, and well fed off my pecan trees:mad:, bagging a few is never difficult. Head shots only. Fresh squirrel properly killed, prepared, and fried is > than fried chicken. And just so y'all know, I'm currently on a squirrel jihad. Little bastards are cutting my pecans by the thousands. I killed 7 last Sunday just sitting by the gate waiting for the little ****ers to pop out. .22 mag. And no, I did not eat them. The crows/buzzards did.
