Waking up with it being 6 degrees outside, a windchill of -10, your town is under a tsunami warning, and your hot-water heater has gone out.

dude, you live in Alaska :D

the hot-water heater thing would be bad regardless though... i've been without a furnace for a few weeks here and barely noticed

Well, I'm far enough from the water and high enough that a tsunami probably won't get me. But I just can't imagine how much worse getting hit by a tsunami would be with an air temp of 6 degrees.

Tsunami warning is canceled, I think. But my hot water is still out. Waiting for a plumber (yes, I know how to check the pilot light. No, I haven't done so. The genius who designed this place put the hot water heater in a place inaccessable for any reasonable human being.)

That's cause they're made of wind.

Already done. Hot water is back on, though.
