I just saw that a BIG trombone job came open. Bass trombone at The Met. Sadly, I do not play bass trombone well enough (and my resume is not strong enough) to even get sniffed by The Met.

Annual salary for that job is over $125K. And that's not even counting all the other work you'd wind up doing on the side.

Heh. there's another job open that is far more likely for me to win. And when I say I don't play bass trombone well enough, I actually mean it. My sound on one of those things is just flat not good enough to win that kind of a job. Bass trombone is a whole different animal from tenor trombone.

Angry blue-bloods in New York City just put out a hit on you for calling the Metropolitan Opera a "band". ;)

and on a related note, my first-time-band-playing-son has earned 1st chair playing coronet in his 6th band. He should be knocking down $125k soon. ;)

Put some purdy perfume on your resume. That should get it sniffed.
