Every one of you need to jump on the Rutgers bandwagon now. USC is going to have an incredible computer ranking with finishing out vs UCLA, ND, and Cal.

That, and the Scarlet Knights rock.

I think if SOS doesn't matter they should be ranked in the top 3, if for no other reason than to **** off the other undefeated teams and the 1-2 loss teams in between who also have relatively light schedules that allow them to focus on 2-3 quality teams all year.

Around 20th until they actually play a couple of tough games. We could run the table every year with our 2nd string players with Boise States Schedule. Same goes with the Big East. Just my humble opinion.

I know. Love for them to try to play a schedule like ours, or anyones schedule in the Big 12, they each would have atleast 3 losses I bet. The SCC and Big 12 hands down have the hardest schedules week in and week out. To put Rutgers, Boise State, Louisville, and WV in the same catagory as us just by Wins/Losses, without consideration of schedule strenght is a joke.

The talking heads for some reason have a hard-on for USC, I don't get it...

Arkansas is the best or second best team in the SEC. USC went into their house and beat them 50-14. 50-14, people. Hello?

Nebraska is the best team in the Big-12 North (and could have made a case for best in the whole conference, with a win over Texas). USC beat them by 18, and it wasn't that close.

USC will play Notre Dame, like every year.

Notice how USC plays top teams out of conference, away or home. No directional schools. No 8 home games. No avoiding playing anybody outside their region.

Guess who Florida is playing this Saturday ....Western Carolina. What business does Florida have playing Western Carolina in November, much less September (when they played Southern Miss and UCF -- sometimes decent, but not great)? The FSU game, unfortunately, doesn't mean much this year.

It's about strength of schedule. I think we deserve respect for it.

Given the relative weakness of your conference, a tougher non-conf schedule is necessary.

there is no doubt in my mind that arkansas would steam roll USC at this point in the season.

also, USC sure did get lucky against Oregon last night... was it USC that won that game or Oregon that lost that game?

lets talk about who USC lost to. big time ranked opponent, a perinnial powerhouse.... oh wait. can you imagine of Oklahoma lost to an unranked team? We wouldn't see the top 25 until the middle of next season.

Don't forget that USC has the luxury of having Pac 10 officials in all of their games (the visiting team gets to bring in their conference officials except when playing Pac 10 teams).

We all know how unbiased Pac 10 officials are. On the same weekend we got hosed, Baylor did, too. The Pac 10 acknowledge to the Big XII of six "blown" calls all in favor of WSU against Baylor giving WSU the 2-point win.

At the rate its going, we will have to win about 7 or 8 games in a row to move into the top 10. Too bad there aren't that many left. I always heard if you're going to lose, lose early. I guess that isn't the case any more.

Paris of Troy
11/13/2006, 02:14 AM
Putting aside that we would without any doubt whatsoever get steamrolled by a team we beat by 36 earlier this year, or that we beat Oregon by 25 by total luck, or that our refs fix all our games, etc. my basic point is that our resume matches up well with anyone's. I don't think any one-loss team can say that their case is clearly better than ours.

I mean, does ClintonSooner really think we should be #7 "at best." That would put us behind a team with an equal record that we beat by 36 in their home stadium. Do you really think that is equitable?

Whatever. I have good news for y'all: (1) We are very capable of losing another game; (2) It won't be Notre Dame, because we are going to roll their overrated asses. It's going to be sweet.

I think we've answered this question several times this year. It's called a lack of respect for OU.

We are the only team this year to drop five places after winning our game. We've won five in a row (including two ranked teams) and have only moved up six spots during that five week stretch. We beat Oregon and drop two places while they move up six.

snp
11/13/2006, 12:47 PM
We barely squeaked by a CUSA team, at home. We deserved to drop since the teams that jumped us, in week 2, all won in a much more convincing way. At that point in the season, we weren't that great, like we are now.

Also, repeat after me - We. Lost. At. Oregon. Jesus, still harping on about how "we won" is incredibly aggiesh. Move on.

No respect? We've been ranked top 10 preseason the past few years. We have respect.

Nope. From the BCS website:

6. A team is eligible to be considered for an at-large berth in the BCS if it has won at least nine regular-season games and finishes in the top 14 in the final BCS standings. Previously, teams finishing in the top 12 were eligible.

12. Boise St: Utah State, at Nevada
13. Texas: Texas aTm, Big 12 Champ Game
14. Cal: at USC, Stanford
15. Auburn: at Alabama
16. Wake Forest: Va Tech, at Maryland

Getting to the BCS Top 12 is the goal. Who loses out of these teams?

If you take out the 3rd, 4th teams from BCS conferences we are actually 13th, BUT:

Our most likely route of reaching a BCS bowl now is if Hook 'em can lose to Aggy. Otherwise it gets real tough. We can get to the top 12 but if Boise is ranked higher than the ACC champ they are in.

Ohio St & Michigan are in. 2 SEC teams WILL be in. Probably Fla & Ark. Big 12 & ACC Champ. Big East Champ (probably WV). Pac-10 champ, (hate to say it but it is probably in our best interest that USC beat Cal and definitely ND)

That leaves only 2 spots: I think ND is probably in even if they lose to USC. Maybe is USC clubs them like a baby seal they drop far enough but I wouldn't hold my breath.

That leaves Boise, Louisville, (I think the WV/Rut loser drops way down) and OU. We won't jump Boise unless they lose. We could "Big Time" them if say WF finished ahead of Boise in the BCS and we wound up in the top 12 with Boise right ahead of us, but that scenario makes my head hurt.

All this is unless of course the pollsters/BCS bowls decide to take in account the Oregon game. The computers see it as a loss no matter how bad the call was so we probably need a lot of help.

I just posted that all we have to be is top-14.

I agree the Big 12 CCG is our best bet. There's so many possibilites still left it's hard to argue with the rest of your post just yet. It'll clear up soon enough.
