View Full Version : South Flag and Rings

Normally I would be completely opposed to this team getting a banner and south division champ rings if they win out and Texas wins out.

However, I am a little torn. With everything this team has been through and the adversity they have had to face this season, it might be a nice thing to do. I know Texas did it a few years ago when they tied us for the south division even though we beat them heads up.

Like I said, I'm a little torn on the subject. Thoughts?

Not only no, but hell no. There's only one spot in the CCG for the South and the North. If two teams from the same division got to the play in the game, then claim co-champs all day long. Otherwise it looks bush as hell.

I'm really proud of this 06 team so far, but

if you don't play for any championships, or win your division, than no banners.

Big XII South Division flag/ring = ghey as all hell.
This isn't baseball, there are no pennants or awards for being the "best-out-of-6-teams-except-for-the-one-that-beat-us" awards.

No.

If Texas wins against A&M, they are the South champion. Part of the magic of overcoming adversity to win a championship is actually winning it instead of claiming something you didn't earn on the field.

No banners, no rings.

In fact there's a part of me that wouldn't even like the fact of winning the Big 12 South without having beat Texas.

I don't like the thought of backing into a championship game...but I'll take it.

I hope if we do "tie" that we get the banner and rings and mail 'em to the Texass athletic department.

We aren't Texas.... We don't need to order "Big 12 South Co-Champion" rings.

The idea makes me sick...we're better than that, we're not Texas, and that's a Texas move.

I don't care if we get banners or rings but if we have the same record we are Co-South winners and Texas plays in the Big XII Champioship game by tie-breaker...pure and simple....

Rogue

We can't be co-south winners with the same record if they beat us head to head.

I remember when some Colorado player hocked his Big XII Championship Watch on EBAY....

I think it's a Big XII Conference thing...

Even though it's a bad idea....

The fact is...

We are tied with Texas in the South Division.

The only reason there is a tie breaker is because of the Championship Game requires a representative from each division.

You can look at it as "Bush League" if you want...

I think the OU players deserve it...

Of course I believe we should get another shot at them to break the tie...;)

WTF?

They BEAT us this year. Now we both have 2 losses including one conference loss on our records. How, in any parallel universe, can we be "tied"?

If both teams have the same record and Team A has beaten Team B, then Team A has the better record. In every sport that I know of. This whole thread is wierd to me.

We're not Auburn and we're not Iowa State. We only take credit for real championships, not ties. If we and Texas are tied, but they beat us head up, they won the division. No arguments. Sorry, I hate Texas as bad as anybody, but sometimes you have to admit when other people are better than you. They beat us heads up.

Point of Order:

Oklahoma is actually a half-game behind Texas in the standings right now.

a&m's chances against texas are closely connected to this guy showing his ugly face in two weeks:

AND therefore, our chances at having legit rings or bammer math rings.

Colt McCoy actually reminds me of Applewhite and Heupel. Looks like a boy and just wins games. I feel certain Mack will find a way to misuse him.

Why?? They scored 42 points with Snead running the offense (actually 35 since McCoy scored the first TD).

Offense wasnt the problem with them on Saturday night, it was defense. And specifically pass defense. They got torched all over the field by a freshman QB. I thought Aaron Ross was the Big 12 defensive player of year? How can he be on a defense that ranks in the 100's nationally against the pass?

BTW, the point of this thread was to confirm my feelings of "no" as well. I just hope BS and JC agree with everyone on here.

Next we'll be giving individual awards for the guy that does the best job of wiping his ***.

5 turnovers & 11 penalties in biggest game of the year = not champions

unless, texass pulls another choke job against the sheep lovers.
