On deck:

Chattanooga

Cincinnati

TCU

Kansas

Nebraska

Texas Tech

Stoops enters the '08 season with a 54-2 home record.

OU has a pretty good slate of home games with TCU (payback?), Kansas coming off an Orange Bowl win, Nebraska beginning the Pelini era, and Texas Tech's best team in forever....

Stoops could run up his home record to 60-2 by year's end. It's only a week away! ...and Tennessee Chattanooga is in trouble.

and yet, the Snake Focker is hardly mentioned in the "toughest places to play" articles every year.

I know we're not loud as fans, but the crimson team seems to stomp the dogsh*t out of "visitors" in Norman.

Who's 2nd, btw. Since 99 or 2000 home record?

this thread was started quite awhile ago and has seen us play many games in Norman (even "big" ones...which are only "big" if we lose, if you listen to the "right" people)

But now its 2009 and Bob's Sooners now have a 25 game home winning streak - the longest in the nation

Tulsa is up to bat, and they seem to be pretty salty...especially offensively. We should know a lot more about our team a week from now

Was tonight a sellout, also? I couldnt tell, maybe just cuz it was raining and some people didnt show up. But I know weve had alot of consecutive sellouts too.

Octavian
9/13/2009, 03:46 AM
Hopefully it was but sellouts can be deceiving in both directions....Nebraska can be mediocre and sell out every game....Miami can be awesome and draw a mediocre crowd. In the end, all that matters are W's and L's.

And right now Bob is 61-2

That's insanely good.

From soonersports.com's game blog:

In a rain-drenched home opener at Owen Field in Norman, the Sooners shut out Idaho State, 64-0, for the win. The victory extends Oklahoma's home win streak to 25 games which ties the school record set under Bud Wilkinson's watch from 1947-1952. See more notes on the streak below. Thanks for following along and we'll see you here next week as the Sooners host Tulsa at 2:30 p.m.

What is the all-time NCAA home winning-streak record?

XingTheRubicon
11/15/2009, 12:38 AM
All time is Miami at the old Orange Bowl. I think it's 58.

Worst CFB atmoshere in the history of Earth, btw. Their band looked like a grand opening at an Otasco.

Octavian

ok...Season 11 has come to a close.

In Norman this year, OU outscored its opponents 276-47

which means, although we went only 7-5, the average score for OU at home was a 46-7 victory. The Sooners registered 3 shut-outs and once again won every game by double digits.

...haven't gone back to re-total all the averages for the entire 11 year period yet...but this year can only help those numbers.

the opening sentence of the "what does it all mean" section in the CFN re-cap of this last game states: "That Oklahoma is a totally different animal at home."

It's true.

66-2 overall.....and 30 straight

Weird thing about that one is that it took a mediocre (7-4) UDub team flying across the continent to snap it.

Mack Brown has lost 3 times as many at home. Six home losses since 1998 is pretty dang good, but compared to only 2 since 1999, our home record looks absolutely ridiculous. I can't wait to run the table at home again next year.

based on the way we've played in Norman, the Dallas arrangement has benefited Texas.

Other than '05, no Stoops team would have lost to a Mack Brown team in Norman. They barely nipped us this year when we were one-armed and blindfolded.

Since 1999: OU-6 & UT-5

I agree. A home and home might have given a better record. I would say 7-4 or 8-3, but 9-2 at best. We have been 3-3 as the road team and 3-2 as the home team. I say with a home and home, we are 4-1 (lose 2006) as the home team and as the road team we are 5-1 (lose 2005).

That would likely put us at OU-9 & UT-2. Interesting....

But I will still take Dallas. The fair and game make it what it is.

'Bama won the SEC West in '02 (probation kept them out of the SECCG) & finished #11 in the AP. Their losses were to UGA (who finished 13-1 & won the SEC) on a last minute FG, to OU in a game that everyone here will agree was much closer than the final score, & the only thing resembling a bad loss, to Auburn @ home by 10 in the Iron Bowl. They beat the SEC West "champ" (Arkansas) in Fayetteville by 18 points.
