It's prolly just the 50mph+ wind gusts out in the TX panhandle.

Um, no...that's another derrick. :D
Projected direction 186, VS 2075, TD 9825 & 89 degrees. We just landed the curve so we'll have to wait about 10 hours while they trip & lay down before lay down for the casing break.
Woo Hoo! Of course it's only 80 miles to the nearest Wal Mart or 40 to the nearest mom & pop.

Me too. Unfortunately our DirecWay satellite isn't set up (whoda thunk they'd be that hard to point) & we're too far out to steal the company man's signal. Thankfully the other guy has a Cingular card or we'd be screwed. It works about half the time & it's sloooooow. 1 bar is about as good as it gets. I cried to the office and they're "suppose" to send out someone to set up the satellite, but that was at 8am yesterday.

I do have lots of things here to keep me busy. In my travels I've acquired a DirecTV satellite TV system (which even picks up OKC locals out here), 2 laptops, several books, an XBox, DVD recorder, & several video games. It's still gets boring though :D
Basically I have to pack up my life and move every job.

So, what you're showing in those pictures is that just by standing tall, you can see the curve of the Earth?
Damn, dude. It looks like you're on mars.

Go west young man, go west. I once awoke in a Meade, Ks hotel room to find a snow drift inside my room.

If you drive about 10 more miles won't you fall off the face of the Earth?

From my FIL's farm. Nothing for freaking miles.

It's near Plains. Don't know where that is? I didn't either...
Just take Kellogg West and don't stop. If you get to Liberal, you've gone too far.

you should get into remote controlled gliders. that would be perfect conditions for them and they could offer hours of entertainment at a time.

Unless you're from out there, you'll hate it with every fiber of your being.
Yeah, I had family living out that way when I was younger. :O

Hadn't see any but we went to town last night & saw about 30 deer & about the same number of turkeys.
Today's my 11th aniversery & Mrs. '68 & the kids are coming out to Canadian for a visit! We're on a casing break so I'll get to spend about 10-12 hours with them. Sometimes this job seems like either a deployment or a prison sentence. :D

I have a cousin who worked on a rig out in eastern Wyoming. During breaks they'd get their guns, stand off the platform, and shoot at the prairie dogs

I'm starting to understand why the oil field guys would act so crazy when they came to "town" in West Texas. I lived in Big Spring for 5 1/2 years and never really adjusted to the desolation. Funny, when I moved there (from OKC) I thought I'd enjoy the wide-open spaces that I was used to in Idaho.
SB, with so much downtime you could start reading and become a nuclear physicist in a couple of years if you don't go crazy first. I'd prolly just master Xbox games though.
