I want to go on a winter vacation this year. I will probably go sometime around the end of December, first of January. I don't really want to go skiing but I definitely don't want to to go to a big city. I also would like to stay in the continental US. Please give me some suggestions. I'm wide open.

You want Winter? Go to Duluth... or maybe somewhere further along the north shore of Superior. There are lots of resort type places - mostly centered around skiing but also with forests and hiking and stuff.

Miami, Phoenix and San Diego would be top choices for me. If those are the big city, then Phoenix has resorts outside of there that are not big city and are great. Santa Fe or Taos would be good candidates too.

those were my picks also. Plenty to do even if you aren't skiing.

To be honest, San Antonio is a pretty good vacation destination (not if you live there mind you). There are three pretty nice resorts there. If one is savvy on Priceline, you can get a good deal on one.

The River Walk is really nice during the holidays.
