I want a new set of luggage with wheels on it. I go on several business and pleasure trips a year. The set also needs to have either a wheeled garment bag or just a suitcase that will keep my clothes from getting too wrinkled.

Suggestions? My current set is outdated and just too bulky.

For Heaven's sakes. DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.

No wheels for carry-on luggage, PLEASE. If it is too big to carry and you have to roll it, it does not need to be carry on.

Why would you need all that stuff on the plane, anyway?

No wheels, but Natives appear out of nowhere and just carry it for you.

I have a black one. It's the best suitcase ever made. It not only has wheels, it has skateboard wheels and rolls like butta.

Go to High Performance in Norman and check them out.

We got a nice set last summer of American Tourister in the 600 series. http://www.americantourister.com/webapp/at/servlet/SProductSelector?keyword=600+series&storeId=10101&langId=-1

I think we got a nice 5 case set that included the boarding bag, which is just about perfect for everything that you carry on. Check the rest! We had a coupon at Penneys and got a pretty good deal on the set. (plus it comes in red like we got!) :D

Chuck, I rarely take wheeled luggage onto the plane. What I have now is a huge rolling garment bag that I check, but it is bulky and heavy. I want to update.

I'm luggage shopping tomorrow, I'll let you guys know.

Remember there used to be a store called Bag'n'Baggage or something like that?

Where the shiz-fo do they 'spect us to buy our luggage these days?

Tumi is the ****.

I have these from LL Bean and they've been good so far. They're easy to spot at the carousel, but I've figured out why most luggage is black, because I've had them a couple of years and they're starting to collect a bunch of marks an scrapes.

Oh, you said Tumi.

I paid $500 for a Tumi backpack 8 years ago and it was my best purchase ever.

'Cause if you do, you'll be getting some very snazzy luggage in the near future!

I bought a crimson Samsonite garment bag FWIW.

I have Chuck Bao's TUMI backpack but it's the cloth, not the leather. It rulz.

Also I just retired a Samsonite bag that I flew with twice a month for the last 7.5 years. Good choice.

Neat thing about Samsonite is that they make luggage with "spinners" - wheels that rotate in more than one direction. Easiest-to-handle-rolling luggage I've ever used.

Now, I'm shopping for some good luggage. I want anything that isn't black. Red, pink, yellow, orange, purple and all combinations are welcomed. I'm tired of almost every single piece of luggage coming up the luggage chute being black.

I almost spent $1,500 for two suitcases this evening. I didn't mostly because I couldn't carry them home on my bike and they refused to deliver them to my apartment. One would think that a $1,500 purchase would justify a home delivery.

I fly economy class, but my Tumi luggage is guaranteed for five years. SO TAKE THAT!!!

Okay, that's not totaly logical, but that's what I'm going for. Bascially, I can endure hardships in the coach bin but I don't want my luggage to ever feel inferior.

I could buy luggage for less than $100, but I'm going for the luggage snob and go for the $1,500 pieces.

In a side note, has anyone gotten into those new hard plastic backpacks that make those wearing them look like turtles? Having a hard outer shell strapped to your back maybe isn't such a bad thing if you think about it. I just may be a teenage ninja turtle driver.

Sorry Chuck, but I NEVER check bags unless I'm going scuba diving, or going somewhere for over a week.

I couldn't tell you the number of times I've arrived to a business trip destination - and my bag hasn't. And it's usually when I need to change clothes and go give a presentation to a couple hundred muckity mucks - and I'm wearing shorts, t-shirt, and flip-flops on the plane.

When you travel damn near every week, you carry on. I have an Olympia bag that will hold a week's worth of clothes if you fold them right. It fits very easily in the overhead on the bigger planes, and I gate check it on the smaller planes. I've owned the same bag for 4 years now and it's gone on hundreds of trips. The wheels are just about worn out now and I'll be trying to find another one. I can't even remember where I bought it though...

I like the Samsonite hard shell suitcases. They typically have a suit hanger.

Why hardshell? I got 10 bottles of good french wine in my suitcase on my last trip to Paris and in all my years of international travel have never lost/broken a bottle of wine/spirits.

Plus the hardshell will protect your contents better than the soft shell. The only complaint I have, is I wish they would put a loop on the case so I can use a pastic tie wrap to "lock" my case.
