broken bone in foot :(

NORMAN -- Oklahoma freshman guard Bobby Maze will miss the next four to six weeks after breaking a bone in his right foot during practice Wednesday.

Maze will have surgery Thursday.

Maze played 29 minutes in OU's exhibition games and did not score. He averaged 2 rebounds and a blocked shot.

Maze, who attended The Patterson School in Lenoir, N.C., last year, was Jeff Capel’s first signee as OU head coach. Maze averaged 14 points, five assists and three steals last season and helped his team to a 34-3 record. He was rated as the nation’s 135th best player in the class of 2006 by Rivals.com.

The Sooners open their regular season Friday against Norfolk State in Norman.

That really stinks. He wouldn't have contributed much early, but we need him to develop quickly.

That sucks. That's about 7-10 games and he would have been playing quite a bit during some of those games. The Maui Invitiational would have been great experience for him.

Four weeks from today is one day after Villanova. Six weeks is Tulsa.

Better watch foul trouble in the first couple games with Neal sitting out too.
