Mel Tjeerdsma (pronounced church-ma) is a great man and a great coach. He took over the head coaching job in 1983 at Austin College (in Sherman, TX) and did an outstanding job there for many years (considering the limited talent he had to work with). I know the man well and think the world of him. To say the least, I was shocked when I saw him on the list since he operates in a world of obscurity at the Div II level.

Having said all this, I still voted for BOB STOOPS! :D

While I do think Mack Brown hasdone great on the field and has done the exact same thing Stoops has off the field this year... I can't say Mack has faced the adversity nor caught half of the bad breaks (Rhomar/Quitt, Gordon Reise, injuries to star players, etc...)

Mack and Bob are on about an even boat. Lloyd Carr, well, let's just see if he chokes or not. And I don't mean losing to #1 Ohio State... that's not choking... I mean like his Rose Bowl and Alamo Bowl bids.

Bob, you have my vote... win out, you'll get everyone else's.

ditto..... I vote every day.....How can you not give it to Stoops? Players that take money from Ohio State boosters are kept on as star QB's, but Stoops is above that. Then, add on everything that we have gone through this year in the form of injuries and things, to be 9-1 right now is one hell of a coaching job....

Bob, you have my vote... win out, you'll get everyone else's.

I have to disagree about Mack Brown. IMHO, Mack finally wheedled his way into a program with top athletes and has managed not to blow it altogether. THAT does not make him a great coach. As far as I'm concerned he does not deserve even 1 solitary vote for coach of this year or ANY year.

Schiano = a whole 'nother story. He doesnt get my vote, but I couldn't argue with his selection based on his resurrection of the deasd Rutgers program.

BUT BOB STOOPS has guided OU through a season when they had every (well documented) opportunity and excuse to collapse. But under his rock solid leadership the Sooners have kept fighting all the way.
THAT is great coaching, and that's why he gets my vote(s). :D

The page states we are to vote only once daily from the same ISP. Most voting systems on the web are set up to disqualify a candidate/subject for the day, if rules aren't followed.

I'd hate Coach Stoops to fall behind only because we voters are violating the rules and making him drop.
