Anyone know anything about this: Lubbock sports radio said the Gator Bowl has an option every so many years to pick a Big XII team ahead of the Cotton and they are thinking about using that option to pick OU this year, if OU wins out.

I did a quick search and couldn't find anything about this option. ??

I know the Sun Bowl is also part of this process. Here is a link

Looks like the Gator picks after the Cotton and ahead of the Holiday.

A trip to Jax, perhaps? The number 3 ACC will prolly be Maryland or Wake Forest.

The DOK yesterday said the Gator picks ahead of the Cotton.

That would be neat.

I believe this will happen because they would really be stealling a one loss OU team.

The Dallas Morning News had OU playing The Gator Bowl in it's prediction thread because they get first option over the Cotton.

Gator picks ahead of Cotton, but I have been hearing that Gator wants:

#1 W. Virginia (or)

#2 OU

vs.

ACC team

Maybe things have changed and now they want OU #1. I think they would pull more travel fans from WVU, but maybe they are more concerned with TV ratings.

I would much rather play Wake Forest or Maryland in the Gator than LSU or Auburn in the Cotton.

I would like the Gator, as well. We need another gator trophy in the Switzer Center!

One weird thing I noticed, WHY IN THE **** are there crappy bowls post New Years all of a sudden!!!!???? Playing in a post NY's bowl used to mean something- the firggin international bowl or the GMAC bowl>?????

As much fun as it would be to expose how weak the ACC is, I don't know if I could make it out to Jacksonville

According to the Big 12 website the selection order is:
BCS
Cotton
Holiday
Gator (when it chooses to select a Big 12 team)
Alamo
Sun
Independence
Texas

I really hope this is the case. I much rather get to beat down Lester in bowl game, than play some halfass basketball school in the Gator.

I honestly don't care what bowl we're in as long as we play one of these overrated teams and put them in their place.

Can we all agree to just flat turn down the "Texas Bowl" if things ever get that bad for us?

I'd prefer the Gator if for no other reason than variety. Been to the cotton bowl, it sucks, no news there. Haven't been to the gator yet and playing anyone in the ACC would be a nice change of pace.

i am not thrilled with playing LSU or Auburn though

i'm sure Allbarn would love to get us in a bowl game

Texas bowl doesn't sound as bad as galleryfurniture.com bowl.

Or as bad as the EV1.net Houston Bowl.
