SOONERS TAKE TWO FROM GOLDEN GOPHERS
No. 4 OKLAHOMA TRAVELS TO No. 11 ARIZONA THIS WEEKEND

THIS WEEK’S GAMES - The University of Oklahoma® hockey club (13-0-0) head back out o n the road this weekend to face No. 11 Arizona (7-1-0-1) in a pair of games. Both games will begin at 7:30 P.M. MST (8:30 P.M. CST). The Sooners have an all-time record of 7-2-0 against Arizona and a 3-1-0 record in games played in Tucson against the IceCats. Last season, Oklahoma split the games against Arizona in Tucson, losing 6-3 the first night and coming back the next night to win 5-1.

LAST WEEK’S OU HOCKEY GAMES – Oklahoma won both games this past weekend against the University of Minnesota’s ACHA D2 club (3-4-1). Friday night, OU jumped out to an early 6-1 lead in the first period and coasted to a 12-3 win. Doug Gebbie had a hat trick, Laddy Tresl and Danny Force each had two goals and Ryan Kenney added four assists during the Sooners’ offensive onslaught. Saturday night’s contest saw OU receive goals from five different Sooners as OU worked their way to a 5-1 victory. With the wins over the weekend, Oklahoma has now won 14 straight games dating back to the last game of the 05-06 season, breaking the old record of 12 consecutive wins set in 2003-2004. Oklahoma and No. 1 Illinois remain the only unbeaten teams in the ACHA D1 this season.

RANKINGS – The Sooners are ranked 4th in the most recent ACHA Coaches Division 1 ranking released last Friday. The next ACHA D1 ranking is scheduled to be released on Friday, November 17th.

SCOUTING THE ICECATS – Arizona hosted Arizona State last weekend in Tucson, losing the first game in a shootout 5-4 and winning the next night, again in a shootout, by a score of 3-2. Like Oklahoma, Arizona recently participated in the ACHA D1 Showcase, beating Duquesne and Mercyhurst before falling to Western Michigan. Arizona is led in scoring by forward Craig Irwin who has eight goals and ten assists for a total of eighteen points. Irwin is followed by forward Robbie Nowinski (6-6-12), forward Matt Conover (4-5-9) and defenseman Zach Samson (2-4-6). Goaltender Luke Edwall has been in net for most of Arizona’s games this season, compiling a 2.35 goals against average.

SOONERS GAMES IN TUCSON ON THE AIR – The games this weekend in Tucson will be broadcast by Arizona over the internet. Sooners fans have the option to listen to the game via the direct Arizona link by clicking the MULTIMEDIA tab at http://www.azstarnet.com/sn/wildcats/ or by using the redirect link at either www.icehockey.ou.edu or www.ouhockey.com. The Arizona vs. Oklahoma broadcast begins 15 minutes prior to face-off (approximately 8:15 P.M. CST).

PRACTICE SCHEDULE – The Sooners practice this week at the Blazers Ice Centre on Monday and Wednesday from 4:30-6:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 8:45-10:30 P.M. before leaving for Tucson early Friday morning.
