Looks like the folks from the Oklahoma Gazette troll SF.com.

We made their latest issue in the 'Chicken Fried News' section.

There's even a quote from our one and only Octavian. :texan:

Heh.

Who knows? Perhaps these Net users are on to something. But CFN thinks they’ll need to learn how to spell (it’s not “moran,” moron) before their forum-fathered tirades will gain credibility.

At that time, Kenny Mossman, OU associate athletics director for communication and media services, told The Daily O‘Collegian that the horsies would “allow for something more interactive with the fans.” “They will be more accessible than the Schooner at media events and hospital visits,” he said. Heck, the fluffy mascots even staked their claim to a national “Most Collegiate Mascot” award last year.

Why did Kenny talk to the OSU student newspaper?

Osce0la
11/9/2006, 11:22 AM
I sent a letter (don't know if it is the one they were referencing since I don't know where the letter got mentioned). I basically let them know moran is done intentionally and told them for further explanation they can do a GIS for "morans" and find the pic of the hippie. Then ended my letter with **** off dip ****.

The letter to the editor was as follows:

'MORAN' JUST PART OF THE 'STRATEGERY'

In response to the Nov. 1, 2006 Chicken-Fried News "Horse power?" article (quoting SoonerFans.com), I'd just like to point out that we are not morons, as your writer quipped. "Moran" is a reference to this person: www.democraticunderground.com/images/morans.jpg (http://www.democraticunderground.com/images/morans.jpg) , who held a sign with the misspelled word. It was in the news a while back. We use "moran" in the same spirit that people now use "strategery."

That's not where it comes from.

Moran's been in use on Sooner message boards ever since Wyandotte Wildcat, way back in 1997/1998.

Exactly. Idot, Moran, baned, all come from Wyandette, the proud KSU fan that attended Devry. If it's not here, that should be posted on the archives. It's greatness.

I think most of us know its been around for a long time, but I suspect she used that example because it required less explanation to those morans.
