The emergeny operator here at the lab just came over the PA. State and local police agencies are on site at the lab searching for two male hispanics though to be armed with handguns. they advise everyone to stay indoors and report suspicious activity. My apartment is on site at the lab, so we have one of their reception boxes here at home. Naturally, now that they have announced that, I want to go outside and smoke...we don't smoke in the house. Perhaps I shouldn't though.

unless of course these tools try to get into one of the access points for the accelerator. They might come out as a steaming pile of smoldering radiation. Technically, they shouldn't even be able to get there, and if they do, they'll drop the interlocks and at least shut off the beam, but then they'll have to deal with the random radiaton that accompanies a quench...

Well, the mouse has been topped. We have two armed robbers somewhere on site. They are fleeing the police on foot. We've been warned to stay indoors and report any suspicious activity.
