(Oct. 30, 2006) -- This week's nominees are:

1) Former quarterback-turned-wide-receiver-turned-quarterback Paul Thompson took the 19th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners on the road to Columbia, Mo., (where locals were still hung over from the St. Louis Cardinals' World Series victory) and defeated the 23rd-ranked Missouri Tigers 26-10. Thompson accounted for all three of the Sooners' touchdowns (two passing and one rushing), leading his team to a 6-2 overall record. The 6-foot-3½, 215-pound quarterback prospect is not just an athlete playing the position. He has the ability to manage the game and moves well in and out of the pocket with exceptional ball-handling skills. The run-action pass is where Thompson has proved to be the most effective where he can get out on the perimeter and either beat you with his legs or arm. After waiting his turn to engineer the offense, changing positions three times, the fifth-year senior is one of college football's feel-good stories this season.
