I don't know if this has been posted yet, or not. But I can't believe that the Schooner with Boomer and Sooner aren't even shown out of 26 mascots.

My theory?

I think the horse-pigs are pulling attention away from Boomer & Sooner (along with the Schooner). Down with the horse-pigs. Stick to our real mascots ! If you want someone who is funny, and that can entertain the kids, stick with Top Dawg. I hate seeing those mullet wearing horses walking around like they got some legitimacy to the Sooner mascot crown. :D

My young son was watching some football with me and I got up to use the bathroom. Later my son asked me, "Dad, when did OU start having a pig as a mascot?" He was being serious and had seen the pighorse mascot on some show.:D :eek:

Before the horse-pigs were introduced, Boomer, Sooner and the Sooner Schooner would have without question been in the first 3-5 images in that gallery. Heck, TopDawg would have probably been thrown in, too. Seriously, this mascot debacle is infuriating.

I don't even consider the pigdoghorse thingy a mascot. The OU mascot has been, and will always be, the Sooner Schooner. And it should have been included in that group, if not the very first one shown. The only thing Bevo is good for is grilling.

I went here to try to e-mail the athletics department about the horse pigs. Supposedly this address is for general athletic department questions/comments, but in the end it appeared to be about tech problems with their website. I told 'em to get rid of the horse pigs anyway.

A while back some ath. dept. (do we have an official sf.com acronym for them? AD being already taken) spokeswoman said there were "mixed" attitudes about them, but that the negative comments were falling off.

Please write/call/e-mail them again so they know the issue is alive. I also told them to never ever ever get rid of the Schooner.

Are you talking about the one that ran over the Trojan dude? That was great. The ad was probably made before AD's injury. And what Colorado Buffalo is in the hunt? Or is there another Buffalo team?
