Big loss for BU for sure. Bell had been lighting it up the last few weeks. Was it five or six TD passes last week? Are the any viable options as a backup, or is this pretty much the season for the Bears?

Bummer for Baylor.

But also, welcome to the club! :O

They have a red-shirt Freshman as the back up. Don't know much about him. Might be tough to be Bowl eligible.

I don't think Bell has any eligibility left, right? If not, tough break on Baylor. The kid really played hard against Texas in Austin.

He doesn't have any eligibility left. He already has his BA and gets his masters at the end of the semester.

Blake Szymanski is now the starting QB. I used to have really high hopes for the guy, he was seen as a Tech style QB and he pushed himself really hard to constantly watch game film and prepare for the starting role but he just hasn't shown much.

If he plays the way he plays in practice and during the spring then our season is over.

It looks like we'll have to wait for Kinne to get here.

I'm really upset about this loss of Bell.
Bell has taken a lot of **** from some fans, but he's easily the best QB we've had at Baylor in the last decade. He has a better Big XII record than any of our other QBs COMBINED.

I was a total Bell homer from day one and easily my favorite player since I've been a Baylor fan. I really feel bad for the guy. He really wants to go into coaching. I think he'd make a pretty good one. Bell is the kind of guy that makes up for a lack of physical ability and natural talent by using his head and making better decisions.

He was also the unquestioned leader of this team. Even if a QB were to come in with much more talent then I still don't think the team would play as well as they would with Bell taking the snaps. You could tell how much he's respected when the o-line rushed over and picked Bell up after his injury and carried him to the sideline.

It's a huge huge loss.

Here is an Aggie highlight reel from the game.

You can see the o-line rush over and help Bell off the field around 1:38-1:40.

I always hate for this to happen. I even hate it when it happens to whorns. These kids work so hard to be the best. Unfortunately it always has been and always will be the down side of football.

Looks like Jason's injury against Nebbish. Was running and then just pulled up. Way to go for the o-line. The o-line sure respected him!

That's what they get for stealing from our playbook.

Well, he had already injured his knee on an earlier play and was playing through it anyway and then that last injury finished him off. He wasn't really hit he just landed on it the wrong way I guess.

I thought they were stealing from Tech's playbook?

Same thing. As we learned Saturday, leach was our OC for years.

I watch Szymanski several times when he was in HS. He was a pretty good QB and had some great receivers for a 4A school.

^^^^^^ ABC people (Davie, I think) said Leach was there for "years..."

Bell had hurt it on a previous series and hobbled off a bit. The one in the highlights was the second time he hurt it. That was a class act by Baylor's O Line going and helping him off the field. He has been a good QB for the Bears and it is just sad to see it end like this.

I have always wanted Baylor out of the B12, and TCU in. However, I always seem to root for them in football. This is a damn shame for him and the program.

Which makes no sense because football is the one sport we haven't been able to compete in. But whatever, glad you're rooting for something green and gold.

I'm terribly disappointed and sad for Shawn. Like Sic'em, I've been a big fan of Shawn Bell for the last several years.

I was so looking forward to Baylor going to a bowl game this year. I doubt if I could have been back in the US in time to see them play. But, some day I will.

Shawn Bell's playing days are over. He's looking to get into coaching when he graduates.

I was at the game and you could see the life of the Baylor fans being sucked out of their bodies when Bell went down.
