That's weird. I like the x, I could live without it. I remember some uber nerd espousing his opinions on 1.5 in a blog and really going on and on about having to click on a tab to close it. Really lazy, I guess, but Mozilla addressed it.

I haven't switched to opera, but I'm playing around on it a bit.

I hate the little x's. I tried to uninstall 2.0 and go back to the previous version just because of the little x's, but something went wacky - so I'm back at 2.0 at work.

But I do like how you can find closed tabs under History. The spell check is nice too.

Maybe it's just an extension I have installed, but under Tools-> Options-> Tabbed Browsing-> Display Options, I can set the tab closure to appear on the tab strip, rather than on each tab button.

Just downloaded it. Like it so far.

How many use skins? Is it hard to go back if you don't like one?

type in "about:config" in your address bar, then...

browser.tabs.closeButtons [Integer] - This setting controls how the red 'x' close buttons on tabs appear in Firefox. A value of 0 only displays the close button on the active tab, 1 (the default) shows it on all tabs, 2 results in no close buttons being shown at all, and 3 displays a single close button at the end of the tab bar.
First thing I did.

I just tried Veritas' trick to get my old extensions to work, and so far it's not working.

uhh.... help? :norm:

I dunno. I haven't even installed an extension yet. I'm using it in my newly installed Ubuntu (Linux) and I've got bigger stuff to worry about in ubuntu than trying to get my browser to work. Hopefully those issues will work themselves out soon.

Personally, I always uninstall the old firefox, delete my user data directory, then install the new firefox then try to install my extensions. Usually after a couple of weeks the extensions catch up with the current version.

I love the x on each tab. less overall mouse movement. I have had an extension that added the x for the past year or so, so I didn't even realize it was something that they added. It's been on opera for a while now and it's one of the things I love about that browser. I also have a button on my mouse that I've programmed to (ctrl+w) which can close a tab from anywhere. I also have a button on my mouse that is the same as the browser back button.

I like the fact that ff lets you customize, but the x on the tab might have been better left to not be the default.

I have, like, 5 buttons on my mouse.

I don't know if its new in 2.0 or not but I like the "Undo Closed Tab" option you get my right-clicking, it opens up the last tab you closed, and you can keep clicking it and it'll keep opening your tabs.

That was an option in one of the tab extensions. I hope they made it where you can middle click the tab bar to do the same thing like the extension. I use the restore tab thing a lot.

I SAID MIDDLE CLICK ON THE TAB!

I reassigned all the bottons on me mouse so I don't really have a middle clicker anymore.

You programmed the middle button to run a macro that does what the middle button does anyway. I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight. It's just not right.

CTRL + W will suffice for me.

I'm still waiting for a few of these extensions to be upgraded before I go up

FYI, IE 7 works fine, I've been on it since RC1.

It will also be pushed out as a Critical update in the near future to through windows update to Windows XP SP2 machines.

One thing I've noticed on 2.0 is that alt+s doesn't enter my post like it used to.

It opens up my History window.

angry. very angry.

It also works in every other program I own to close files. Except "dora to the rescue." It doesn't work in that program.

it might speed this thread up if you'd just go ahead and tell us how long the pole has to be for you to touch it.
