SETTING THE STAGE: The Sooners and Sun Devils meet for the first time this season in tonight’s game…This will be the first of three regular season games between OU and ASU…Oklahoma is ranked 7th in the most recent ACHA D1 coaches poll…Arizona State is currently ranked 9th in the same poll…Oklahoma has never beaten ASU, going 0-4-0 last season…In early January, the Sooners will travel to Tempe to participate in the ASU Desert Classic against the Sun Devils, Minot State and DePaul.

OKLAHOMA NOTES: Sooners forward Adrian Borchgrevink leads OU in goals with 12, followed by forward Kevin Kennedy who has 8 on the season…Borchgrevink also leads the Sooners in points with 19, followed by defenseman Trey Snow with 16 points and forward Owen Brewer with 14 points so far…Against D1 teams, forward Doug Gebbie leads OU with 7 points (4-3-7), followed by Borchgrevink (3-3-6) and Snow (0-6-6) with 6 points each…Senior goaltender Aaron Schmeilski has a 4-0-0 record, a goals against average of 1.75 and a save percentage of .946…Oklahoma’s power play remains potent, scoring 35 goals with the man advantage for a 31.81% success rate this season…Against D1 teams, the OU power play is clicking at a rate of 27.45% with 14 goals in 51 opportunities…The other side of special teams is also working well for the Sooners as they have killed off 79 of 84 opponent power plays for a 94.04% success rate…Against D1 teams, the OU penalty kill is 42 of 46 for a rate of 91.30%...Oklahoma has a 33-12-3 all-time record in games played on Friday night and a 22-6-1 record in Friday games at home.

ARIZONA STATE NOTES: ASU is coached by Mike De Angelis, who played for 15 years in Europe and in North American minor leagues before coaching the Sun Devils…De Angelis is a three-time member of the Italian Olympic hockey team…ASU is led by junior forward Joe Ahern (1-5-6), senior forward Richard Ferroni (2-1-3), junior forward Greg Langston (1-3-4), senior forward Ray Corey (3-2-5) and senior defenseman Mike Reveland (2-3-5)…ASU junior defenseman Tony Bonacorso (1-0-1) was selected to the U.S. University Select Team which will compete at the Winter World University Games in Turin, Italy in January 2007…ASU started the season by splitting a home series with Weber State…Last weekend in Ames, Iowa, ASU split with No. 5 Iowa State, losing the first game 7-4 and winning the second game 5-3.…Goaltenders Paul Balducci (5.00 GAA) and Kyle Bronsteen (2.01 GAA) have been splitting time in net for the Sun Devils this season…In two games last season, Oklahoma only scored one goal against Bronsteen.
