...are one win away from winning the World Series...with the 13th best record in baseball this season.

Possibly the worst team to ever win a World Series if they do.

Arguments on that?

Worst Cardinals team this decade!

Oh, well...baseball bores the crap out of me. Just can't believe a team that was in a one game playoff with Houston if the Astros don't lose on the final day is now a game away from the title.

I hope they do it. They "deserve" it after having to play patsy to the Red Sox of Destiny.

As is mine.

After my grandfather passed away, my dad showed me what he had been saving since the 1982 WS...commemorative Dr. Pepper bottles (unopened) made for the Cards. He had two, one for me and my brother...

...thinking of which, my dad still hasn't given that to me. I wonder where it is...

For my money, it's the 1987 Twinkies, who won the AL Worst with an 83-79 record, but then went on to defeat the Cards in the Fall Classic that year.

So give the Cards a pass. ;)

Everytime they showed Mookie Wilson I thought it was Charlie Murphy.

Once the Royals are out of the picture, I pretty much quit paying attention.

So basically, the season't over in May for me. :(

zzzzzzzzzz

The highlight of the year for me was reading Jose Canseco's book.

Baseball games for me was trying to determine which players were on the juice.

Another dissapointing World Series. Cardinals were the best team a few years ago, not this year, but they won when it counted and that is all that matters.

I feel the same way every time the Yankees win one.

In case nobody noticed, it was a bad time for Tiger teams in Missouri this weekend.

Detroit and Mizzou both lost to teams in red, Cardinals and Sooners.

Cool, no?

I didn't know until this weekend that the Cards are second in number of world championships. And it really isn't even close after them and the Red Sox.

I think you mean the A's,

It goes...

Yankees 26
Cardinals 10
Athletics 9
Red Sox 6

And then it starts bunching up.

Ah, so you are right. It's tricky because mlb.com has teams broken down by city, so Philly A's (5) and Oakland A's (4) championships are kept seperate. Either way, it's pretty impressive that St. Louis has managed to be such a dominant franchise throughout history. Interesting sidenote, the Braves have won one championship in each of the cities they've played in, Boston, Milwaukee, and Atlanta.
