I just realized,

that in order to win the national title 4 of the last 6 years, beating the Sooners has been a prerequisite.


2005 Texas (had to beat us to get there)
2004 USC (had to play us for it)
2003 LSU (had to play us for it)
2002 Ohio State
2001 Miami (*Nebraska had to beat us to get there)
2000 OKLAHOMA


Looking back...we were 5 wins away from possibly winning FOUR NATIONAL TITLES this decade. If we would have...

1. Beat Nebraska in 2001
2. Beat OsU in 2001
We would have played Colorado in the CCG and then Miami for the title.

3. Beat LSU in 03'
4. Beat USC in 04'


We have a ton of reasons to be proud of our program. Who else has consistently had a say in the National Title as much as us?

I agree in 2003 and 2004. We were not national championship material in 2001 and I am glad we didn't face that Miami team in the Rose Bowl. Dorsey and gang would have done to us what they did to Nebraska.

I don't think Miami would have scored many points, but I wouldn't be suprised to see us score 3 or less offensively. The defense would get more than the offense.
