So...drop off my son at at school this morning and need to put gas in the Suburban. Fill it up, turn the ignition and...nothing. Since my wife was out dropping the other two kids off, I give her a call to come and give me a jump-start. It's gonna take about 15 minutes.
So, I pop the hood open and sit down. I'm at the far end of a 20-pump station. After 10 minutes, I notice a pattern...NOBODY has used the pumps on my side of the station. In fact, there are 8 cars packed into every pump on the far side. I figured that nobody wanted to be the poor fool who gets asked for a jump-start. I shut the hood, walked inside the store and watched. The next two cars pulled up around my Suburban.
I decided to call my wife rather than ask around because every time I've done so before leads to severe uncomfortableness. It's a bit amusing - and a bit depressing - how far people will go to avoid being asked to help.
