Let me first start by saying, Im totally suprised and excited by the way Paul has been playing. I think he is a great kid, and an humble, poised young man that ANY coach should want on his team.

Now..I have been seeing several threads suggesting Paul is not getting his due props. Paul should be in the Heisman hunt, Paul is the best QB in the Conference etc. People...we love our Sooners but let's be real. What are we basing this on? We are not undefeated, he is not statistically superior to hardly any of the Big 12 QB's....I decided to do some research and peep these stats out and if you can explain to me why he would be ALL BIG-12 SOUTH, then you are the man.

BIG 12 QB SOUTH QUARTERBACKS...this is just half the conference
and all these kids are Freshmen or Sophomores except PT and Bell from Baylor.
Is there a category I am missing? Is there SOEMTHING I am not seeing that would suggest ENA is All-Big12 South caliber? DO I need my crimson goggles or something?:pop:

Paul has been better than I could have imagined but we're playing against the best QB in the league this Saturday.

In fairness, it's 1 person who has been starting all the threads about PT being Heisman and All B12 caliber.

He has done what's been asked of him and done it well for the most part. I agree with Picasso, as MO will be the first big game w/o AD; but I think he will shine.

look at those ranking whilst standing on yer head, and he's like #2 in everything.

I wish people wouldn't call in to shows like "You Make the Call" on KTUL in Tulsa and say that PT should be a Heisman candidate. Makes OU fans look like those other guys in Pokeville saying Bobby Reid is a Heisman candidate. OU fans should know what a Heisman candidate looks like and PT isn't one of them even though I'm very impressed by his play this season. Now MVP of the team thus far is more like it since AD went down.

He's surpassed my expectations. He has been accurate in the short and medium range passing game. He has not made many mistakes (especially not since the beginning of the season). I feel that he's been excellent on converting 3rd downs (although the stats might not back this up).

As far as being All Big 12 or Heisman, ummm negatory.

it was my opinion last year that they gave up on him WAAAAY too soon last year !!!!!!!...especially since he had, in my opinion, reamained extremely loyal to the program and was, again in my opinion, pretty dAdgum unselfish in accepting whatever role the coaches deemed feasible for him ...pretty prophetic, if i say so myself, the way the 'Brett Romar' fiasco transpired !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At a program like OU, loyalty and unselfishness is not a reason to start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The best players should play, always. In the coach's opinions, Bomar had the biggest upside so he played. I like PT a lot and he's played well overall but I don't fault the coach's decision last year!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you are right, the best players should play. that being said, since he clearly dominated in practice leading up to the season, one must wonder why the hell PT was not given the same opportunity that blomar was.

When we had AD PT wasn't needed to make a lot of plays now that AD is hurt we'll see if PT can step up and be a bigger contributer than he already is. That aside I am very happy how he has played this year and think that he can start putting up better stats.
