SETTING THE STAGE: The Sooners and Royals meet for the first time ever in Sunday’s game at the ACHA D1 Showcase…Oklahoma comes into their last game of the Showcase after beating No. 3 Penn State 5-3 and shutting out No. 8 Lindenwood 2-0…Scranton has had a tough time at the Showcase, losing 9-1 to No. 20 Kent State and 11-5 to No. 6 Michigan-Dearborn…Oklahoma is ranked 7th in the most recent ACHA D1 coaches poll…Scranton is not currently ranked…Sunday’s game will be on the Olympic-sized rink at the Ice Zone.

OKLAHOMA NOTES: Adrian Borchgrevink and Jordan Novak scored power play goals for the Sooners in the win over Lindenwood…Aaron Schmeilski stopped all 33 official shots in the shutout…Oklahoma has a 1-0-0 record in games played on Sundays…The game against Scranton will be the first Sunday game at a neutral location in OU Hockey history…Oklahoma’s power play was 2 for 7 in the win against Lindenwood…Overall at the Showcase, the Sooners power play has been 4 for 18 for a 22% success rate…By contrast, the OU penalty kill has killed off 20 of 22 power play chances for their opponents at the Showcase for a 90.9% kill rate.

SCRANTON NOTES: Scranton plays in the East Coast Hockey Association…Scranton Head Coach Bill Fitzgerald has coached the Royals since 1994 and returns five seniors to his squad this year, including First Team All-ECHA defenseman Dan Stallone…Senior goaltender David Skinner has been between the pipes for 5 of Scranton’s seven games this season…Scranton started the 06-07 season strong, beating Rutgers (7-0) and Lehigh (7-2)…However, the Royals have lost their last five games, losing to Navy (5-2), Penn State (4-2), Drexel (5-2) and the two games they have played at the Showcase so far this weekend.
