but I don't know how well she can pull off a Smashing Pumpkins cover (http://youtube.com/watch?v=4PsJgrZs7Vg)

When did Evanescence start doing so many covers?

They probably started doing a lot of covers because they suck.

Strangest cover I've heard of so far is Cash's NIN cover which he did perfecto.

I love Amy, but she kind of sucks live. Someone needs to sit that girl down and just let her sing.

I think they pretty much suck, but that wasn't a bad cover, especially on her part.

I thought the exact opposite. I thought the music sounded good but the vocals sucked...

I've seen them live once and they were really good (music and vocals)...

i let that play for about 7 seconds.

my ears started to bleed, i passed out, and woke up 3 hours later in a puddle of my own vomit.

what the hell was that???

I saw them in the Summer of '03 and they were really good...Seems as though they've gone downhill since then...

I don't know why this thread continued after this. Problem solved, mystery explained, time to switch out the cd's at Hot Topic. :D

The band surpasses her vocal skills no doubt.

It occurs to me that there are several posters in this thread that, musically speaking, have no taste and haven't the slightest farging idea what they are talking about. :D

Yeah, okay, she tanked on the Smashing tune. She sounded tired, like at the end of a show (which I assume it was). Happens to a lot of singers.

The Korn tune had terrible audio but you could still tell she sounded fine and did a passable job covering a) a male singer who b) has a very unique voice.

And anyone who listens to either of their albums and still says they suck, must either be a moran or tone-deaf.

gee. I thought it was at least as good as the original. OTOH, I'm not so huge on the Pumpkins.

The first couple dozen times I heard "My Immortal" I thought it was awesome.

740,000 times later... less so. But, the girl can sing.

Swing and a miss!

This is probably gonna end up an angry entry in your dream journal, isn't it? All smudged from the mascara-streaked tears you'll weep on the pages as you scrawl "they made fun of Evanescence today! I HATE them almost as much as I hate my stupid parents and my dumb teachers!!!" and then take six new self-portraits for your MySpace page where you hold the camera out and up over your head so you can pout up like the sad little panda you are...:D

Dude, if I listened to Depeche Mode and NIN like you, I'd have offed myself years ago. :D

Well yeah, I could see where if all you listened to was weepy emo girl music, NIN and DM might seem a bit scary. ;)

Okay, this is getting out of hand. I was attempting to engage in friendly banter, not music smack. Music smack is weak by definition. This thread is starting to regress to High School.

The music that is good is the music that you like. End of topic.
