View Full Version : Is Brad Henry a good governor?

What kinda job do you feel he has done? I don't think I've ever even voted for a Governor and I haven't lived in Oklahoma enough lately to have a good idea on this election.

I probably won't even vote.

Gasoline prices are down and the stock market is up. I say he's done a hellova job.

Although a strong governor would have sent National Guard troops to Oregon to take care of the PAC10 problem.

I usually vote Republican because of my conservative beliefs. But I will vote for Brad Henry, Brad Henry(sorry). He's pro gun and seems to be very pro family, plus I've long thought a lottery was a good idea for school funding. A voluntary tax is a no brainer to me.
Istook's talibanish outlook on our state's future made up my mind.

Other than being able to get a tattoo and buy a lottery ticket now....what else has he done?

That's what's great about Henry though. I'd rather a Democrat do less.

I don't have much of a problem with Henry. There are a ton of things that need to be done in Oklahoma (a lot of economic problems need to be addressed to name a few), but Henry hasn't really done anything too bad to screw things up.

He's pro-gun, supported the tax cut (albeit a smaller one than Pruitt's), and remains conservative on social issues. To be honest, I think he's just fine until the GOP takes control of the State Senate and controls the legislature by a large enough margin to take up an aggressive reform agenda.

I'll also say that Henry should be a model for Democrats trying to get elected in red states. Henry plays great in Oklahoma, but Pelosi would be run out of OK with pitchforks.

There was a guy running for State Rep in OK back in 2004 who had the absolute most amazingly hot wife I've seen from a politican in a long long time.

I kick myself for not remembering his name. I don't even remember the district he ran in.

Brad Henry rocks. Why? Cause he hasn't done a god damned thing. And a politician who doesn't do a god damned thing is doing a good job in my book.

Look at y'all. Ya done made me use the lord's name. I'm thinking I'm rapidly approaching a meltdown here. Please do not be the person/s who happen to get in the way.

I have a problem with some of the things he is taking credit for. He is claiming he was instrumental in creating the new meth law. I can tell you from experience that he had nothing to do with the law other than signing it. He brags about how the economy rebounded, when he in fact had nothing to do with it. If he wants to brag about his economic mastery, maybe he needs to address why we lost two of our biggest companies on his watch. (GM, Kerr-Mcgee) Also, he shows up for work about 11 when he isn't on vacation. His only vision for budgets is to give everything to education. In my opinion, he is just very lucky in regards to the timing of his election. He can just do nothing and then take credit for the hard work of other individuals.

I'd be quite the hypocrite for faulting him for that. I don't show up at all when I'm on vacation.

I'm sort of with Dean here. He stays below the radar, and that's probably a good thing. Better than that nutcase crusader, Istook. Even better since Istook will be out of a job come January :D

Sounds like a sign of desperation. Probably bodes well for Jari Askins.

Ladies & Gents, behold the highest and purest of American political wisdom. Will Rogers would be proud.

Too bad it's going out of style with both donkeys and elephants.

and seems to be very pro family

I've never understood when people say this. Does any candidate ever run on an anti-family platform? Just what the heck does pro-family mean?

Just curious.

Recently, pro-family means more than just protecting family values, but 'protecting the sanctity of marriage.' AKA No ghey weddings.

Along with "I stand for Oklahoma values", this is thinly-veiled code for "I'm a Bible thumper just like y'all".

If I ever run for office, it will be on pro-drug, pro-stripper, pro-gambling, and pro-gun platform. That's pretty close to being anti-family I think.

1stTimeCaller

what exactly are 'family values' and why would anyone be against them?

Is that just another way to say that "I hate fags and anything you do in the privacy of your own bedroom"?
