Guess you didn't hear the news. Stoops disbanded the football team at his press conference today. Said it was a difficult decision but clearly the right one to make. We're taking up men's bowling to keep the Title 9 freaks happy.

Ummm...BV came here when Stoops did, so that record would be: 79-18 (81.4%), and 51-11 (82.3%) in the Big XII, including 25-1 (96.2%) at Owen Field in conference.

Not drinking the Kool-Aid here, because I am pragmatic, but the team pulled together last year and survived not having AD and wound up being a better team at the end of the season. They didn't have him to rely on for several games and found ways to play as a team and win. I may be wrong, but I think they will do the same this year.

I've tried to make this point several times but I get attacked by idiots who wear blinders and insist that AD is the only reason OU has for continuing the football program. For people who want to cling to the assumption that he is the best ever, I would ask them just how many championships OU has won with him? and how many before he came? Fact is, football is a TEAM sport and as good as he is, he didn't make OU a dominant team.
This team will only be less predictable without him.
Does OU have backs capable of breaking 50- yard runs like AD? maybe not, but we have backs who can be tackled for losses about 9 times a game like he did (just a fact that goes un-noticed).
I'm really not trying to bash AD, I'm just trying to make the point that OU was OU before AD and will be OU after AD.

I think Mike Stoops was a big psychological factor to the team, the fire left when he did.

I'll bet my left nut that a back DOES bust one for 50 plus Saturday.

Think that had anything to do with that one guy's seven fumbles???

From which team? :D

(Just kiddin'. I agree, actually -- we've got some astonishing talent at RB. Obviously, they ain't AD - because NOBODY is as good as AD, but they're certainly as good as anyone any other team has got)

maybe. but we shut VY and Tejas out in '04 without Coach Mikey.

That was because VY didn't quite get that forward passes were legal in 2004, Mack told him in the off-season.

No, seriously, even the worst teams can bring it on defense to the RRS. I think the RRS factor and the leftover talent pool from previous years helped out on that one.
