And which way are you going?

My son and a friend are going and I think going through KC would be the best way to go but wanted to see if anyone else went a different way.

the I-44 route just doesn't seem direct enough

We used go I-44 to Lebanon, MO and then north on 5 until it intersects with 54 to Columbia. We will come home through Kansas City to visit some friends. The drive from Lebanon to Columbia is a bit scenic - but breaks the monotony of always seeing Wichita. The last time we went to Springfield and then took US 65 north through Sedalia until it intersects I-70.

SoonerBBall and I went back in '02. We took I-44 to Lebanon, then took HW5 up to Camdenton, HW54 to Jefferson City, and then HW63 into Columbia. Great scenery, Lake of the Ozarks was cool...definitely the best route if you have time. I-44 in Missouri is much more scenic than I-70 IMO. I actually got that route from another poster on this board, so whichever of you it was who proposed it 4 years ago, thanks.

We used to go through Camdenton - but the traffic in Osage Beach was so bad the last time we went on US 65 through Sedalia and then connected with I-70.

Flying to STL (Had a direct to Columbia from Big-D, but damn American Airlines cancelled the route) and driving to Columbia. It is a much more scenic drive and it is much easier, IMO, to get from the STL airport out to the highways.
