I didn't hear it with my own ears, but my dad was telling me that on the WWLS pregame show Trent Smith was talking about how he wasn't impressed with the talent of most of our current players when he played against them in practice (they were scout team players at the time). Anyone confirm this? If so, I'm calling shenanigans. I would have been impressed had he come out with these revelations before the season and then we had a dissapointing year, but to come out with them now seems self aggrandizing and punk.

I've heard people say he was a punk anyway . . .

Friend we talked to heard it and confirmed the same, basically called out the talent on the team.

How many of our current players did Trent Smith play against in practice? He was a senior in 2002, so it would not have been very many. I think Rufus and Birdine were freshmen on that team.

I assume he's talking about the 2005/2006 teams? Even the 2005 team had very few players he would have played against in practice.

Does not compute.

I don't think Trent was a math major.

That's kinda what I was thinking . . .

Trent did well for the Sooners, but there's no need to condemn our boys.

He didn't say that.

He said that OU's talent level is down (obviously) but that Bob hasn't gotten the best players in the state. That even some marginal players from Oklahoma will play better than the best from California, Texass or Ohio because they LOVE OU.

If that is in fact what he said, I agree with him 110 percent. We absolutely need texas talent, but we need a lot of okie talent too. I think it is way out of whack right now.

Some one tell Trent we already have lee corso to run down the team.

Now that sounds about right, and for the most part I agree with that.

I have no problem with what Trent said, and i agree that we need to get more Oklahoma boys and quit trying to recruit all these National studs; the Oklahoma boys are more apt to stay here when the going gets tough because they love OU

He listed guys like Onte Jones, JT Thatcher, himself, Rocky, Romero, Jason WHite, and Teddy that would never quit.

He said now adays, all we have is Reggie.

That is a huge difference and I hope Bob gets it.

Trent is a Sooner Patriot.

I actually don't blame DJ for his situation.

I heard negative crap about Trent long before this stuff came up.

Not that I care to go into it.

I'm nto sure I'm in any position to comment on this, but I've thought the same thing for a couple of years now.

Texas players are great, but Oklahoma players have that added passion. I'm definitely no coach, but I think I'd rather take a talented 3-4 star Oklahoma player that is willing to have his head knocked off in a game for OU than an over-pampered egotistical 5 star POS from Texas whose dad has an inflated opinion of his son's worth.

Trent was an arrogant prick before he even started for OU. He did play well though...

I was standing about 10 feet from Eshbach when it was going on and listening carefully to the whole thing. He said Birdine and Rufus impressed him, but he "doesn't see anything" in most of the other players. And then he talked about the players he used to play with and basically said the players we have now just don't have "It."

Eshbach (sp.) and Humphries seemed pretty ****ed. After Trent got done talking they didn't say a word to him. No "thanks for talking to us" or anything.

I probably agree with Trent in principal, but also agree with the concensus of the board that he's punky.

As much as I don't/didn't like him as a person. I did like the coment he made about texass before the rrs one year. About growing up hating them and he just doesn't like 'em...

No worries folks... TRRW said he learned to hate the Whorns, so he's A-okay in my book. Same can be said for Texas native Tommie Harris. Anyone saying he ever quit as a Sooner never watched him play.

Someone needs to figure out an interview process to sift out the flakes, because at the moment it just looks like a crap shoot.

Flakes are the problem regardless the State of Origin. Wasn't one of the O-line men that quit last year before TCU an Okie? Just curious.
