View Full Version : Who replaces AD next year?

I say next year because I like most Soober Fans assume that AD runs for money next season.By my count we have % tailbacks to compete for the job next year: Patrick,Gutteriz,Madu,Brown,Murray.

Is the aswer one of these players, a combination of two or more backs, or is there an as yet unknown stud TB to be signed?

My personal opinion is that barring seperation by one back during practice this year, bowl workouts,or spring practice ,we will see multiple backs contribute.I look for Patrick,Gute to be in the mix at least early because they are veterans.Although I like their running ability they both have shown fumble-itis during their limited playing time. That leads me to think That Murray who was the most heralded of the frosh trio would be next in line for the top spot. This of course is pure speculation on my part.

Since pratices are closed to piblic and press I am wondering if anyone in the Norman area has heard any credible rumors as to how the overal l TB picture looks or how the frosh stack up. Anyone?

I think the coaches have been really surprised with how good Chris Brown is, and everyone is impressed with DeMarco Murray as well. As for Patrick and Gute, Patrick's obviously not getting his chances this year (thus far) but when he has, he hasn't shown a whole lot, and Gute probably ends up as a "spot" guy and a contributor on special teams.

From what I recollect this summer, it's going to be real hard to keep Brown and Murray off the field next year...

...that is, assuming Peterson doesn't come back.

I think we'll see Brown and Murray in a duo threat in the mold of "Bush/White at USC or Brown/Williams at Auburn.

I think we need to move Brown and Murray to cornerback - they are good athletes after all.

IMO you don't move blue chip recruits from the position they were recruited at before they even see the field.

Nobody.

AD returns next year for:

1. Heisman
2. NC
3. Miami
4. Whorns

And as an added bonus, he shatters the NCAA record books.

Wishful thinking. ;)

Murray and the other two freshmen look promising. Madu looked pretty good in the Fall practice, as well as Brown.
Allen Patrick is going to be the front runner for the starting job, but he's going to have to play a lot better to keep the freshman on bench in '07. Murray's HS highlight tapes are incredible, but so is the case with most D1 backs.

I have to agree he is not replaceable. Although, OU has had great backs in the past how many were replaced the next year after they left? Hell OSwho still hastnt found a replacement for Barry Sanders. I just hope he comes back for his senior year, because I dont wont to watch AD playing for the Raiders..........

There is NO WAY he comes back next year. I'll put money on it.

He will only be a Senior...why would he want to leave early? :P

I also believe Santa Claus is real.

Honestly, I think there is an outside chance that he returns next season. He could easily become the NCAA record holder for rushing yards and if he did come back they will give him the Heisman before the season starts.

No kidding! Kind of like Troy Smith this year. I heard Pat Forde on ESPN SportsCenter say he dropped AD to third for ONLY rushing for 109 against texas. Uh, I guess he didn't notice when Troy Smith ONLY passed for 115 against Penn State.

Since when was 100 yards a bad game?

I think David Overstreet did a great job of picking the slack up after Sims.

Pat Forde is a headline reading idiot. He overreacts to try and get his name out there, which in this case he did, followed closely by the word idiot but still he got it out there....

Peterson would be an idiot to stay another season at OU. He's got a daughter and millions of dollars waiting on him if he plays in the NFL in 2007.

Pat Forde dropped Peterson because he accounted for two turnovers that contributed to a loss last Saturday.

100yd. game aside, Peterson didn't play like a Heisman back.

I'm with you TX..seems like AP needs to hang onto the ball a little better when given opportunities if he plans on challenging one of the young studs for the starting role next year.

Just got off the phone with Merv Johnson on the pregame call-in show.He says Brown is the best of the frosh right now and practices and travels as IF he MIGHT play this year.
