Whole Foods rules. We went by the one in Plano during the OU/tx trip. It's amazing. The meat department, produce, everything was out of this world. they have a huge pre-made section, too. If they get one in Norman, I'll go everyday.

For breakfast before the game, we stopped by and got a bagel, muffin, and a huge fruit bowl with prepared kiwi, strawberry, mango, and grapes. It was delicious.

From what I've heard, the hang up on them opening here is you can't sell wine in the grocery stores. I didn't see the big deal, the wine section wasn't anything super duper.

They have more organic milk than you can shakes a stick at.

The last time I went with Mrs. VJ to the Whole Foods somebody was demo'ing a small glass jar of "dipping sauce" which retails for $9.99

We purchased ribeye steaks that ran $20.99 a pound.

Heh.

For those prices, give me the animal hormones, the carbs, the cholesterol, the pesticides and I'll go out ahead of the game.

I miss McCartney's. That place rocked with the conveyer belt that brought out your groceries.

their wine business is huge.

but they also rely on the demographics, they want 200,000 people in a 10 mile radius, and an average income of $120,000

Central Market > Whole Foods

put down the crack pipe.

Central Market just adds the regular non-healthy crap back in.

it's a po man's Dollar General. great prices but on off off off off off brand items.

Fixed.

It might be okay if you just want to pick up some Cook Boyardoo canned goods or maybe a quart of malk and some ground beaf. Be sure to bring a quarter if you want to use a shopping cart.

The sign I saw on the Aldi in Milwaukee was a little disturbing:

FRESH MEAT NOW DELIVERED DAILY

Screw all that Whole Foods/Central Market yuppie nonsense. I'd kill for a Wegman's.

I'm not really happy with any of my grocery store options in Tulsa. Maybe it's just because I hate grocery shopping?

Yeah, I fit right in with my Prius and whatnot. :D

I've never heard of Central Market. If it's like Whole Foods then bring it on.

It wasn't so much the organic stuff but the produce, premade section, bulk grains, roasted nut bar, and meat department.

They had sushi, too. When we went in that morning they were making it fresh. Actual Oriental fellers.

Oh, I actually went to Aldi today. It's wierder than wierd. Bizarre-o-rama. I won't be back.

I did get some graham crackers for 99 cents a box though. I'm sure they're primo.

Tried Petty's?

And I must admit since the demise of Bud's there isn't any place that has that local feel. I try to shop at Reasor's because it's Oklahoma owned, but it's kind of a cluster****.

And you can suck it. And you know who I'm talking to. Hills.

No, they sold us something called an iPud. Don't ask.

Oh, and Aldi stores are where people over the age of 175 shop for groceries, because they can't taste what they're buying anyway. ;)

All of the ones near me have closed. I think there's a couple still open, but I'm not sure where they are.

if you like Whole Foods, you'd probably like Trader Joe's as well.

We've got two Whole Foods up here, and one is the size of a Wal-Mart (Ann Arbor). As a store goes WF is ok.....now the chick who is at the vitamin/cosmetics area...mmmmm tasty.
