It's kind of an interesting thing to think about. Part of the problem is that two teams ranked ahead of us can also benefit from beating unbeaten teams in front of us.
Obviously, we move from 13 to 12 by beating #7 Texas.
At this point, we need some style points. An impressive win will probably determine if we leap frog Notre Dame at 12th. Let's say we do and we are 11th. One of Georgia or Tennessee will be beaten so we move up to 10th.
If LSU loses we obviously move ahead of them. I wonder what happens if Florida barely loses--will they fall below us? Tough call, probably not. Oregon losing at Cal will bump us up another spot. Ohio State, USC, Auburn, Michigan, West Virginia and Louisville are not going to lose this weekend so the best we can hope for is 8th but probably more like 10th.
If we crack the top 10 this week and have the horns in our rearview mirror then it is time to start dominating the crappy teams that lie ahead and start pulling for teams in front of us to get knocked off. We can get to 9th eventually with the loser of West Virginia-Louisville falling. The SEC teams all stand a chance of beating up on each other some more, but finding other losses for LSU and Auburn are hard to find. I do see Tennessee falling again, even if they beat Georgia.
A win over the horns means we still have a shot at the title, but we will need some serious help and some key upsets.
