I swear to God, they've just got a f*ckin' monkey in a back room somewhere randomly pulling numbers out of a box, and THAT'S how they rank us each week...

I think we pose a problem for the voters: whenever Oregon wins and moves up, they feel like they've got to move us up with them...since we did in fact beat them.

Well that sounds fair and logical, thats why I think there MUST be some other reason we moved up.BTW am I the only one who thinks UGA is WAY overrated?

they've got QB issues and the direct comparisons of "round robin" play b/ween UGA, Mizzouri, CU, and Ole Miss (minus CU-Ole Miss, MU-UGA).....doesn't bode so well for the Dawgs.

We moved up because TCU fell out of the poll.

Colorado and Ole Miss both suck.
Georgia has trouble beating both.
Therefore Georgia is a top ten team.

That's logical.

I think the next two months are going to be very interesting. For starters, Michigan should be ranked higher for their performance so far this year. They might be deserving of number two. The Big 10 has two really good teams and a bunch of bad teams. I don't know why Iowa was getting love before last night...they needed overtime to win at Syracuse. Yes, I know, Drew Tate was injured. So what? It's Syracuse!

Everybody else has weaknesses, USC and Auburn included. The schedule is just so favorable for Auburn with all those home games. Maybe their slow offense struggles and falls in Tuscaloosa for the first time...ever! Cal is getting back to where people thought they would be and they along with Oregon will give USC a problem. USC's good, but Booty's not great just yet. Georgia, Florida, Texas (thanks to us) and others will be dropping from time to time.

We have a chance...but it starts Saturday with a big win. If we pull that off, I think we can ride the tide while other teams start falling away.

Curious...what would an impressive win this week do for us in the polls? I think we could get as high as 9 if no other teams in front of us lose.

dominating win, as high as 7, decent win, top 10.

Damn! Who in hell is the number 2 team in the country? I'll give #1 to OSU, but I haven't seen any of the other undefeated schools look really great. After OU wins Saturday, this could get really intersting down the road...

Oh yeah, and who's the idiot giving a #1 vote to Auburn? Les?

My thoughts exactly. Georgia is the most overrated team on there. They have struggled 2 weeks in a row now against bad teams, yet they are still in the top 10. Still remember them falling down 28-0 against WVU last year. They are in the top 10 because voters think it's 2004.
Also overrated is Oregon - they should be ranked behind us. Forget the debate about W or L, on a neutral field OU would win and that is what the rankings should reflect. Notre Dame and Texas are overrated. Georgia Tech is underrated. Other than that, looks like the rankings are getting better.

I guess it doesn't help to beat teams that are ranked higher in the polls (a la FSU and Clemson):

18. Virginia Tech 4-1 421
20. Georgia Tech 4-1 347

Same could be said about Notre Dame... That's the media interfering with the truth for ya. OU is not their best, but definitely ranks among the best this year, as in top 10... tOSU is the only "legit" spot in the polls IMHO at this point.

Three teams ahead of us lost in the Coaches and two teams ahead of us lost in the AP. Is the math really that hard?

Its not that we impressed people with our BYE appearence its that others played like the crap they are.

It always hurts to get smashed, but OTOH, you can't win if you don't play. Any given Saturday and all that.

That last Orange Bowl hurt like hell, but there's nowhere I'd rather have been.

They can say what they want, but as near as I can tell, the Harris has the greatest impact on the BCS.

the way henne is playing this year, meechigaaan has a really good shot at running the table, probably the only team that tosu is gonna play that is an equal. on the other hand, they are coached by lloyd carr.

I think we are phucked for a title shot. Barring something freakish, the winner of OSU-Michigan has a lock for one slot.

The other slot will go to any of the SEC teams that run the table. A one loss USC, Notre Dame, Oregon (sad but true), or SEC squad will probably have our number in the BCS calcs.

Big problem is that we have very little prospects for a quality win deduction. If we win out, our best shot would probably be a two loss Texas team, or perhaps a one-loss Mizzou. Neither would be top ten, IMO.

We have to hope for losses to the unbeatens, and really THROTTLE our opponents to hope to sneak past the other one loss teams. And get some voter sympathy for the Oregon duck-phuck.

All moot of course unless we get this W against TX.

Boomer!

We have to beat Texas. This is the important task. I felt we had a shot last year until the game started. This year is uncertain. I am sure we can beat them if everything works out. PT steps up and defense takes the right bus to the game. AD needs to break a big one on them. He should be well rested and he needs it so far. Lets leave him on the side Bob during kicks. He is our key offensive player. Bush needs to be running em' back anyway. Maybe even iglasious (not sure how to spell that).

yermom
10/2/2006, 12:08 PM
he didn't return kicks against MTSU did he? i think Iglesias or Patrick can probably do fine.

and i think you mean Smith, not Bush ;)

i think beating Texas would be a great way to get us some legitimacy, but it kinda sucks that they already lost to tOSU

of course the last two times we played them after they had lost were VERY ugly

10/2/2006, 12:12 PM
yeah Reggie Smith....I was confusing since he runs alot like Bush...

I believe. Do you?

I agree that we're screwed on the NC game. I think its a lot more likely that the nat media will have a heyday with the phucks if they get into position for the NC game or even a BCS game. They're more likely to just ignore the whole thing if it was to help us.

Michigan will lose before the OSU game.

it's nice that they play, but i don't know who can put up much of a fight to either one at this point

i guess Michigan has a bit of a road to get there, Iowa and the Spartans, and maybe Penn St. will get their act together

i don't really see anyone in front of the Luckeyes though, until Michicgan
