Bevo Lore (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bevo)

Bevo was a non-alcoholic malt beverage, or near beer, brewed in the United States by Anheuser-Busch. It enjoyed its greatest success during prohibition, when beer was illegal.

Who knew?

Also, can anyone explain why a Google Image Search begins returning swastikas and SS stuff around page 2 for "Bevo"?

Is the cow really THAT evil?
Evil enough that Google knows?:texan:

BEVo (also "BeVo", "Be Vo", or "BEVO") - A machine-woven patch with a very tight weave - some might call it a micro weave -that, at a glance, may even appear to some to be screened. This unique method of construction was developed by the Germans during WWII and apparently is still unique to patches from Germany. The name is derived from the firm of Bandfabrik Ewald Vorsteher, in Wuppertal-Baren, where this manufacturing technique originated. (Definition courtesy of Greg Ogletree)

I agree. I think they purposly named their damn steer after an obscure nazi patch company, as a nod toward Hitler.

Glad to see someone else knows where BEVO came from.

Glad to see someone else knows where BEVO came from.

According to Rusty ,your faithful Norman/OKC Budweiser beer deliveryman who grew up in Norman and went on to play baseball and graduate from lid's school, Bevo was the name of the grand champion lh steer at the baja state fair one year and since he was deemed to be the best lh steer evar. lid's alma mater decided to give their mascot an official name. In Rusty's story the grand champion from the fair was walked over to the stadium to be used for their mascot during the OU game at the Cotton Bowl.

I've also heard that Bevo's bloodlines take you to an Oklahoma ranch and the first Bevo was purchased by ut from an aTm alum.

I do know that in about 2003 they purchased a new trailer for Bevo and it was built in Chickasha, OK.
