1. It was for going 29 mph in a 20 - school zone
2. I actually said "What seems to be the problem officer?" when he came to the window. :O
3. The seatbelt was not being worn by me, but he did not cite me for that.
4. In broad daylight he approached my vehicle from the passenger side, as if to be sly.
5. I was on my way to the tag office to renew my OU tag.
6. The ticket is for $94 which is the same year I graduated high school - that fact is not relevant to anything.

Now the question: I have a CDL, should I just pay it or try to get it dropped? I am not that worried about the money (although I do not want to pay it) I just don't want the points on my license.

Only 94 bucks for speeding in a school zone? That's a bargain.

Clinton gets plenty of oil money. They don't need to rape the citizens.

That is very cheap for a speeding ticket, especially in a school zone. Just pay it, it is not worth the effort to try and get out of it. Any ticket under 10 mph over the speed limit does not go on your record.

Did you try showing your teets? Maybe you could have gotten out of the ticket...

I'm still in amazement that it's only $94. That sucker would have been $200+ here in Texas.

I hate it when people speed in school zones. For some reason it makes me very angry. And coming form me - that's saying something.

I think I'll go post this is the 'what makes you mad' thread...

No kidding! I was pulled over in Sugar Land, TX for an expired inspection sticker. The officer saw it as i passed him at a stop sign. The cost was $126.00.

speeding in a school zone is total B.S. shouldn't we be teaching these kids to look both ways, not play in the street, and not blindly run out into traffic. seems we're teaching kids the wrong things in today's world - like staying alive and not being stupid.

KEEP YOU *** IN THE CHAIR!!!!!

Bah. During school is the one time when we know where all the kids are - in the building and off the street. We should be able to fly down the road then. It's Summertime, when all the rugrats are running around playing in the streets like fools, that we should have to slow down.

BlondeSoonerGirl

Around here, the school zones only go into effect when the kids are leaving school and walking home. So there'll be kids all over the place trying to get home and cross that street and stuff.

I guess that's why it makes me so mad. Seeing people fly through there when there's a kid 3 feet away on the sidewalk...

There, I said it. ;)

you know, the teacher/student ratio could improve if we could just run over the ones that are too stupid to get out of the street.

win/win

I only said that to a cop one time. I was coming up 81 from Texas and got pulled over by an OK HiPo outside little Addington. He laughed and told me he hadn't heard that one in ages, then promptly gave me a ticket for being an idiot.

BTW, just make sure you apply for deferred adjudication, that way it won't go on your record. I'm not sure I trust the "under 10 mph" deal. Also, don't speed in school zones. I know typically 29 would not be considered speeding, but you gotta be careful for the little boogers.

and yes, Texas does not play when it comes to that. I had a friend that got a $200+ ticket for going 6 over in a school zone. She tried crying and they still wouldn't budge. Don't mess with Texas.

Yeah, don't mess with Texas.

Our street goes right past the school. Every morning there are three or four parents who come flying down because they are late. Its about time some of them got a ticket since they can't seem to SET THE ALARM CLOCK FOR 10 MINUTES EARLIER. I am going to call the Plano police and ask them to park a patrol car out there and run radar. A nice $200 ticket should solve that.

Yeah, I think I would find out for sure. I know CDL drivers are held to different standards on certain things.
