That's great. Glad to see Japan elect another very pro-American PM. And, very easily as well.

I guess that kind of guts the whole argument that Bush's FP has hurt our allies.

Of course, it wasn't much of an argument to begin with. More of that LiberalFantasyLand™ wishful thinking I suppose.

Koizumi was fairly charismatic and loose as far as Japan pols go. I doubt this new dude matches it. That's not to say he won't be successful, but I tend to think the structural reforms carried through under Koizumi probably wouldn't have gone through without the sheer pull of his personality and popularity.
