So, I've been playing paintball for years, but I've been reading up on AirSoft as an alternative and have been somewhat intrigued.

Anyone here ever play AirSoft or participate in an AirSoft league?

We used to have airsoft wars on Muldrow 9

That's a league down in San Antonio, but they look pretty hardcore. Looks like it'll cost a small fortune just to get the required gear.

you could go to College Station to play Army - and get an education too!

I've never done paintball, but I used to Airsoft. They have cooler looking guns anyways. Those mofos sting though if they hit the bare skin. Bad thing is though, if you wear baggy clothes, u sometimes don't know if you get hit.

lazer-tag. its much cheaper, and it won't hurt your delicate skin ;)

I like a bit of pain though and playing outdoors. Makes me feel like I'm actually doing something.

That's why I like paintball; it's the only time I voluntarily do anything that results in pain.

After years of both, my sons and their friends like Airsoft better than paintball. Ammo prices make it less expensive in the long run, and I like that it is less messy. Just be sure to wear a mask. Like Ralphie and the Red Ryder bb gun, you don't want to put an eye out.

Seriously, a kid near here lost 60% of his vision in one eye when he was hit.

What do you want to know?

Between my two boys we have 11-airsoft guns ranging from electric full-auto to pump to CO2-powered. On any given weekend we'll have upwards of 25-30 guns laid out in the den while the army is raiding the freezer. I play with them only at night as I perform much better at low speed in stalking mode vs. the gladiator/Billy the Kid/hara kiri kid mode.

Two things that must be said and in our house are inviolable:

1. Safety glasses, GOOD safety glasses are a must. The CO2 versions shoot nearly as hard as a good BB gun. I've got marks still from those guns on my backside through jeans.

2. NO AIRSOFT AMMO IN THE WASHING MACHINE or in the CARPET!!!
This will **** Mom off to the point of no air soft at all.
