OK, if he was playing with a ruptured spleen, I'll lay off the hangnail jokes.

Wait, spleens aren't really vital, right? So that was like an INTERNAL hangnail!

I keed, I keed.

so what now for him? spleen donor? meds? How do you filter blood w/o a spleen?

I hope he will be okay - this is the serious downer of football.

Living without a spleen
It is possible to live without a spleen as most of its functions can be taken over by other organs. However, people without spleens are more vulnerable to all kinds of infections.

Hmmm.

I hope he's OK as well. Apparently he was bleeding into his abdomen pretty heavily.

When he was taken to the hospital he was originally listed in critical condition. He had is spleen removed and is resting well...his year is probably done...as well as the Bucs season.

they said last night his season is over, and that the injury isn't career threatening.

his talent is career threatening though.

Don't you have a death threat to call in to a game official?

Or.. organize a boycott of Nike to attend to?

Or, whine about a conspiracy among ESPN and Nike and the Pac 10 which resulted in your team losing to what will end up being the 4th place team in the Pac 10?

Or... organize more "student" athletes to "work" at car dealerships?

don't you have some chronic and guns to hand out to players, how about free plasma's and legal aid, or shouldn't you finding someone to pee in a bottle to keep your players on the team.

BTW I hope he's OK

I'm thinking he probably just staged it. Complained of abdominal pains, paid off the docs, had them take out his spleen, all to avoid the brewing QB controversy. He knew a finger owie wouldn't cut it in the NFL.

But seriously, I hope he's OK too.

You can live without a spleen, just make sure you get your vaccinations.

When we dissected frogs in high school biology 'the spleen was a smallish, gray ball'. Looked kinda like an oblong Rolie-Polie...'cept with no legs.

I cut it open and there was nothing in it.

The End.

My MIL had hers removed. She came down with a severe case of Bitchitis. So Chrissy Simms may get a little snippy with his team mates in the near future.

If it's ruptured, then what is left?

BigRedJed
9/25/2006, 11:40 AM
"Ruptured" only means it's a little easier to divvy up. There's still plenty for everybody.

Exactly. Think of it as pre-sliced spleen.
