OKLAHOMA 13, NEBRASKA 1

The University of Oklahoma® Hockey club kept the offense in high gear Saturday afternoon with a 13-1 win over the University of Nebraska in Oklahoma City. Kenny Deines got the scoring going less than five minutes into the game to give the Sooners a 1-0 lead. Adrian Borchgrevink picked up where he left off last night and scored with five minutes to go in the first period to put OU up 2-0. Forty-two seconds later, Owen Brewer struck and OU was up 3-0 at the end of twenty minutes of play. In the second period, Nebraska’s Dan Dushinske put the Huskers on the board with a goal at the 1:22 mark. Borchgrevink scored three more goals in the period and Matt Pangrac added another to send the Sooners to the dressing room at the second intermission with a 7-1 lead. Borchgrevink scored his fifth goal of the game in the third period and the Sooners also received third period goals from Derek Pimm, Laddy Tresl, Michael Gavranovic, Greg Curtiss and Sean Castle to make this afternoon’s final score 13-1 in OU’s favor.

Sooners goaltender Chad Helgason stopped all but one of the 8 shots he faced from Nebraska. Starting Husker goaltender Chris Taylor stopped 30 of 36 shots and replacement goalie Sam Spomer stopped 19 of 26 shots. OU was 4 for 6 on the power play while Nebraska was 0 for 4 on the power play.

The Sooners are now 2-0-0 while Nebraska is now 1-3-0. Oklahoma hosts the Skatin’ Rebels of UNLV next Friday at 7:30 P.M. in Oklahoma City.
