SETTING THE STAGE: Tonight is the season opener for Oklahoma…Tonight is also the first of two games between Oklahoma and Nebraska this season…Oklahoma is entering its fourth season of play in the ACHA and its third season at the D1 level…This season will be Nebraska’s second season in the ACHA…Oklahoma and Nebraska have never met on the ice before tonight’s game.

OKLAHOMA NOTES: The Sooners begin the 2006-2007 season looking to improve on last season’s No. 11 final ranking in ACHA D1 play…There are seven seniors on the OU squad, five of whom have been with the Sooners for all four years of the team’s existence…Due to minor medical matters, Sooners goaltenders Aaron Schmeilski and Ryan Anderson are not expected to play this weekend…OU senior defenseman Danny Force was selected as an alternate for the 2007 United States University Select Team that will compete at the Winter World University Games, to be held Jan. 17-27, 2007 in Turin, Italy…Today’s game, and all other OU Hockey home games, will be broadcast live on the internet - Sooners Hockey fans can listen to the game by going to www.ouhockey.com or www.icehockey.ou.edu and clicking the appropriate BROADCAST link prior to game time.

NEBRASKA NOTES: The Huskers played this past weekend at home against Dordt College (IA)…The Huskers lost the first game against Dordt by a score of 9-3 but came back the next night to win 4-3…Nebraska is led by senior forward Dan Dushinske and his brother, junior forward Paul Dushinske, as well as junior forwards Zach Dettmer and Robert Fanciullo and junior defenseman Van Hough…Goaltender Chris Taylor will likely be in net for Nebraska both nights this weekend…Nine members of the Nebraska squad previously played for the Omaha Jr. Lancers while four others previously played for the Lincoln Jr. Stars.

NEXT UP FOR THE SOONERS: The Sooners host Nebraska tomorrow for the second game in this two game series…Due to Saturday’s 6:00 P.M. kickoff of the OU football game against Middle Tennessee State, the Sooners and Huskers will drop the puck at 2:30 P.M. to avoid a conflict…For more information, please call the OU Hockey Office at (405) 631-2709.
