I don't mean to deflect attention away from the Oregon debacle...but some of you young whippersnappers may not have seen Billy Sims run. Here's a vid reel that is all Billy.

Includes his game against Mizzou in 1979 in Columbia...I think Billy has 220 that day, he and Phil Bradley for Mizzou couldn't be stopped. You'll know the run when you see it, 80 yards long and he spins a mizzou defender at the 50 and never breaks stride. One of the best OU games I have ever seen...

Actually, that footage has been reviewed by the PAC 10 and Sims actually only had 7 yards rushing during that game.

Awesome. Thanks.

Btw, what ever happened to a RB leaping from the 3 over the pile and 5 yards into the endzone? You don't see that as much nowadays. Seems like it stopped about 10 years ago.

They worry that it might get themselves hurt and then screw up their NFL chances..

Actually they are probably coached not to do that now, why I dunno.

I dunno but you bring up a great point. This used to be an old standard at the goal line.

Thanks! That was great. I wasn't yet a fan, but watching the tapes, I can never get over how much field vision he had to go with the speed and agility.

Hmm, I heard someone mention a site that hosts 100+ mg files. Can't remember the name. I may set up another ftp site for these...

youtube allows for a 100 meg total of videos, but one of them is 104 and its a good sized (i.e not crappy) resolution. Thats the 80s videos. The smaller of the two is the 70's video I have, and it has Joe's punt return, the scott hill hit and some other runs on it.

I'm glad you explained yourself there because the first thing that shot through my mind was Switzer standing over a little pink baby with a marks-a-lot. And I was thinking, "yea. that would stick with me for a while, too."

Actually Billy had 282 yards that day against Mizzou, which was a school record until Demond Parker broke it against Texas in 1997.What I loved about BIlly's running style was the way he would almost "offer up" his chest to the defender, knowing full and well they couldn't tackle him high, kept people off his legs. We also forget how stinkin' big he was for a RB at the time.

Actually it still happens, but only when noone is within 20 yards of them and they want to dive anyway.
